LIFECYCLE of the BUTTERFLY or MOTH
Butterflies go through four different stages in their lives.
1: The egg is laid by the female on a food plant suitable for the baby caterpillar.
2: The caterpillar hatches from the egg.
3: When fully grown the caterpillar changes to a chrysalis.
4: Weeks later the chrysalis splits its skin to reveal the damp butterfly, which inflates its wings to dry and then flies off to the nearest source of nectar.
