Report from corkladiesfootball.ie
Munster Minor Final : Cork 1-11 Kerry 0-9
The Minor Munster A final followed and this was a tighter and more competitive affair as both panels having met over the years knew each other styles and you could see the managements had their home work done. Target players on both sides were quietened and defensively both teams were dominant, especially for Cork were the full back of Grainne O Sullivan , Emma Coakley & Allana Barry and for Kerry Barbara Browne and Ciara Murphy were especially dominant. Neither goal keeper was really troubled in that first half and many of the points were converted from awarded frees. Scores for the first half were credited to Cork from Elaine Scally, on target with 3 frees with Holly Hayes , Brid O Sullivan and Emma Farmer adding a point each and for Kerry Clare O Sullivan 0-2 , Rehanne OShea & Maria Quirke 0-1 each . Second half and though Kerry increased their work rate throughout scores were still becoming a premium , Cork defence in the opening minutes of the half were under constant pressure. A sin binning to Cork corner back mid way through could have proved costly but minutes later the Kerry full back found herself also in the sin bin. Kerry rattled the Cork wood work on three occasions , but it was Cork that pounced on a break up the field and full forward Emma Farmer slotted in the matches only goal. This gave the Cork girls the breathing space so badly needed and the closing 10 minutes Cork found scores easier to come by . Captain Jessica O Shea added the final point to seal Cork’s victory where they retained the Munster Minor title. The Munster player of the match was awarded to wing back Roisin Phelan . The Cork players would like to wish Kerry’s corner back Barbara Browne a speedy recovery as she was stretchered off minutes from the final whistle with a serious knee injury. Scorers: Cork Elaine Scally 0-5 ; Emma Farmer 1-1; Jessica O Shea 0-2, Brid O Sullivan , Holly Hayes & Finola Neville 0-1 each. Kerry : Claire O Sullivan 0-5; Maria Quirke 0-2; Laura Rodgers & Rehanne OShea 0-1 each.

Well done to Allana Barry, great to see Millstreet representation wearing our county colours.
