sunny Tuesday morning.following a night of heavy rain.
There was little evidence of a recession with all the crowds who turned out
at the weekend for the many outdoor events that were held, The Munster
finals in Killarney. The Garden Show in Mallow, Vintage in Castletownroche
the Millstreet Country Park and so on. All were blessed with fine weather,
so win, lose or draw ,it was great to see the people out in such large
numbers and rising above the doom and gloom.
And looking to the future there are plenty of events, to suit all ages, coming up.
Open Air Concert and Dancing at Star Trax Studio .Knocknagree , on
Sunday July 17th ,from 2pm. For a mere €10 you will be entertained by a
host of stars ,some you know and some perhaps that you donation. Children go
free and strictly no dogs or other pets allowed.
A note here from Dan Joe Herlihy to remind us of a Charity Dance that will
be held at the Earl of Desmond Hotel,Tralee on this Friday night July 8th,
from 8.30 to 12.30 Itâ?Ts in aid of Kerry Cancer Care and Kerry general
Hospital.again with a host of stars including Mike and Sheila of Heart to
Heart, our own Peter Lane & Blackwater Sound to name but a few and special
guest on the night Tim Coughlan of C 103 Fame. Admission €10

The people of Cullen enjoyed their Young at Heart outing to Darby o Gills
last week and Fr. Jack FitzGearald joined them for the meal.
Now their Special Needs Association are busy getting ready for Laitiarnian
Sunday and their Annual Threshing and vintage Day which will be on Sunday
July 24th. Plus all the trimmings, such as pet dog show, sports, live music
etc. They are asking for help so please contact any member in the near
future.

Now pay special attention while I tell you all about the Adult Learning
Festival which will be held at the Community School from July 18th to 22nd.
There is something in it for everyone. You can do a five-day course, from
10 until 1pm each day, in a wide variety of subjects, Creative writing,
Computors, Crafts, Woodwork, Community Choir. Cooking , The list goes on.
This is a first for this kind of Fest. So please support it well and it

Our Knitting Club is on Summer recess and will resume early in September. Le conamh De.
On behalf of our Tidy Towns Group I want the ask you to please keep up the
Anti Litter drive. Refrain from throwing rubbish out of Cars and pick up
any that you see. We are all in it together so we should all be helping. Best
Frontage Competition will be held again this year.
There is a fundraiser in aid of Marymount Hospice at the Award Winning
gardens of Gertie and Maurice O Donaghue Dromboy, Carrignavar, on Sunday July
17th. These gardens comprise of Dry River Bed, Japanese Gardens, Sunken
Garden and has 150 varieties of Hosta and so on. They are situated off
the Cork /Mallow road, with local signposting, and Maurice is a native of
Aubane.
Airtricity are offering funding again and the closing date is July 16th. Look up the website for details.
Millstreet Summer Horse Show August 10th to 14th and promises to be bigger
than ever before. People with good quality accommodation to offer should

Our LTV2 Crew are out and about the whole time gathering material for their
Winter Shows. Recently they travelled to Glengarriff where they had a 10
minute interview with the renowned movie Star Maureen O Hara.
Keep an eye out in town these days for a man called Malcolm who is running
from Malin head to Mison head to raise funds for his little girl called
Pearl who is Autistc.
And still with good causes Blarney Vintage Club hosting a Chris
Pardoe Memorial Classic Car runanx will again be stopping at Millstreet
Country Park after a scenic driving route from Blarney this coming Sunday
10th July 2011.
An impressive collection of beautiful classic and vintage cars together
with some American Miniatures will be on display from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Live
music and entertainment by John White in Visitor Centre from 2pm.
Millstreet Pipe Band will be performing on the Band Stand and marching
around the grounds this coming Sunday 10th July from 2pm. Run in aid of Cork Alzheimers Society.
Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at the
Bush Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were,
2, 6, 13 ,26 and the jackpot was not won. €100 went to Joanne Dabal, c/o
the Clara Inn. The was the Clara Inn and they got € 50 sellers prize.

The All Ireland Feile na bPeil hosted at the weekend saw Millstreet extend
a warm welcome to a group representing Longford Slashers.
Last evening, Millstreet incurred a defeat to Midleton in the Co. U21 A
Football Championship.
Upcoming, Millstreet V lyre in the 2nd round of the Duhallow Junior A
Football Championship at Castlemagner on this Saturday at 6.30pm.
