We beat Glenthorn 7-3 at home this morning to register our first points of the season. We got off to flyer with a goal after just 3 mins. Paul Dawson flicked a header into the path of the onrushing Barry Lawlor whose first time strike found the back of the net. Both teams had chances after that but it was Glenthorn who got the equaliser after 20 mins. We got back into our stride after that and took the lead again in the 35th min. Michael Murphy got free down the left and, after his shot was saved, Tadhg Collins was on hand to slot home the rebound. It remained 2-1 until the 55th min when Collins got his second of the day by finishing off a great cross from Dawson. Straight from the kickoff Glenthorn got one back and they were level in the 65th min after some poor defending. We didn’t let the heads drop though and in the 70th min Brian Murphy went on a great run down the right wing. His low cross was dummied by Collins and Lawlor was on hand to grab his second goal of the day and put us into a 4-3 lead. 10 mins later the game was made safe when Danny Riordan was brought down in the box and Tim Kiely scored the resulting penalty. We were well on top now and scored twice more before the end. Dawson crossed for Collins to complete his hat trick the same combination struck again for the final goal of the game which made it 4 for Collins on the day. Best performers were Paul Dawson, Barry Lawlor and Tadhg Collins.
