Fondest Greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely calm Spring Morning.

The Community Council Awards Social will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on this Friday March 2nd.

The list of worthy recipients are as follows. Youth  Achievement: Joanne O’Riordan, Humanatarian: Mary O Sullivan, Meenskehy, Unsung Hero: Patricia Guerin, Cultural: Aubane Social Club, Sporting Achievement: Mark Ellis, and Service to the Community: Tidy Towns Committee.

All tickets are almost sold out.  Music is by the popular Kelt a great night is assured .

Community Council meeting to-night at nine to calculate the tickets, ticket sellers please attend and please bring in all ticket money.

Regular meetings are being held every week to plan our St Patrick’s Day Parade which will be held  on  March 17th at 5 pm. Please take note that our Parish Priest has kindly agreed to hold the vigil Mass at 7pm on that evening instead of 6.30.

The organisers are asking people of all ages and all walks of life to please take part in this years St Patrick’s Day Parade.  Start planning your party piece now and it would be of great help to them if you’d let them know as soon as you’ve decided on a theme.

The notes for the next issue of Clara News went in to the Editor at the weekend. It will be in the shops around the 8th on March.

The annual March Fair will be held in the town on this Sunday  March 4th. Always a great day out for all the family.

Monthly Trad. Night at the Pub in Carriginma to-night, Music by Liam Cantellon.   Sean and Matt. still continue to do great things for good causes there. Recently they presented the proceeds of their Quiz nights which amounted to €400 to the Simon Community.

And Con and Joan Twomey raised €900 for Jack and Jill Foundation and it was presentedat the pub recently. So please support them well.

Notes from IRD.Duhallow, Information Seminar on the Budget and other important issues  To-morrow Wednesday night Feb 29th.

They  are also holding a public seminar at the James O Keeffe Institute on Wednesday March 7th  It is all about preserving our ancient Castles, Kilns, Bridges , Walls, and  any other historic features that may be lost if neglected. Old stamps are needed, They can be used to raise funds for the Guide Dogs For the Blind. Please hand them in at our local Post Office.

A School reunion of 1976 to 1981 is planned ,Would those intending to be there please contact Dan Murphy, West End or Mary at Guys and Dolls Salon, so that numbers can be calculated.

Only three nights left at the WeighIn in Cullen. 55 people attended last night and 98 pounds weight were lost.

The local branch of the Red Cross are looking for volunteers for Therapeutic Hand Care both in Millsteet and Kanturk Hospitals.

The Gathering will be the biggest tourist inecentive in Ireland in 2013 and our group are holding regular meeting already. They have left suggestion Boxes in many shops and stores in the town. Please support them by putting your best idea on paper and drop it in any of those boxes.

Irish Heart Foundation Church Gate Collection this weekend March 3/4th

The AGM of our Town Park Committee will be held this Friday night March 2nd  at the Canon O Donovan Centre starting at 8.30.

The first week of Lent is already gone. Please take note that there is no morning Mass in Millstreet Church on Mondays. Instead there is a Mass at 7.30 on Monday evenings with Stations of the Cross starting before it at 7.

The first of the Lenten Talks was held at the Community School last night. It was vey well attended. Next one is on next Monday night again at 8, It will be given by Dr. Patricia Kieran, of Mary immaculate College Limerick entitled, Compassion, Faith & the Family.

Scor Millstreet were successful in the County Finals both in the Quiz and Novelty.act at St John’s were successful in the Resitation by John O’Sullivan.They all progress to Munster Semi Finals which will be held at Tallow, Co.Waterford on Saturday  March 10th

GAA Millstreet overcame Croke Rovers in the Duhallow U21Football Championship on Sunday.

Millstreet play Lyre in the Ducon Cup in Millstreet on Friday night at 8pm.

Fittings of Gear for our Juvenile GAA  Club  takes place to-night at the
GAA Hall from 7 -8.

Four Macra members – James Kelleher, Steven O’ Riordan, Niamh O’ Mahony and Rebecca Enright, representing Millstreet GAA, became county Scor Sinsear novelty act champions this weekend gone and will represent the county in the Munster Semi-Final in a few weeks.

Mystery Tour

Millstreet Macra have organised a Mystery Tour for Saturday, 10th March leaving Millstreet at 6.15pm. Tickets are €20 and include transport, food and nightclub entry. Anyone interested in more information can contact any club member, check Facebook or contact Niamh on 0873684138.

 Club Question Time

Our Macra club question time team recently travelled to Kildare for the national quiz finals and finished in a brilliant second place, only a point behind the eventual winners. Well done to all involved.

Our next club meeting is on Friday 9th March at 9pm in Corkery’s Bar, Millstreet. We have lots coming up over the next few months and new members joining all of the time so why not come and see if macra is for you!

Here are the results of this weeks parish  Lotto Draw which was held at McCarthy’s Bar on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were 19, 20, 28, 31 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Timmy Conlon, Kilcorney, The seller was the Wallis Arms and they got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Sharon & Lucky ,Priests Cross, €20 each to, again Lucky, Priests Cross, Margaret Hartnett, c/o Mary O Connor, SoftWare Kid c/o Patsy Mac.
