We drew 1-1 with Grangevale this morning after a hard fought game at Grangevale Park. Both teams started well and had early chances, ours falling to Michael Murphy whose strike from the edge of the box whistled just wide. Brian Murphy was causing the Grangevale defence a lot of problems and in the 20th min he beat two defenders and pulled a cross back for Paul Dawson but the finish was off target. Despite a few scares in our own box, we took the lead in the 30th min. Dawson flicked a long ball on for Brian Murphy whose shot was blocked by the keeper. The ball rebounded to Stephen Crowley who finished nicely from just inside the box. We had another good chance to make it 2 before the break when Brian Murphy was put through by Dawson again but his shot went just wide at the far post. The 2nd half was fairly even with few chances being created early on. Then in the 60th min Grangevale equalised after a defensive mix up. Both teams went for the win but despite shots on target from Michael Murphy and Danny O Riordan we couldn’t get the 2nd goal. Best for us on the day were Brian Murphy, Donagh Murphy and Stephen Crowley.
