We beat DeCourcey Albion 2-1 in the town park this morning to advance in the County Cup. The game was very scrappy for the first 15 mins but it was Millstreet that had the opening chance. Paul Dawson played in Tadhg Collins whose shot went just wide. DeCourcey had a penalty awarded 5 mins later but it was put wide. They took the lead shortly after but we almost hit back straight away when Collins went clear again but this time his shot was saved. He wasn’t to be denied a third time though and when a ball from John Cullinane set him clear in the 35th min he drove towards goal and finished with a low drive. We started the second hal well and had a number of early chances to take the lead through strikes from Collins and Eamon O Keeffe. It took us until 12 mins from time to take the lead though. Collins got free down the right and when he took on his man he was pulled down inside the box for a penalty which was converted by Tim Kiely. Collins had another penalty shout turned down shortly after but it was DeCourcey who had the last chance when they forced an excellent double save from keeper Piotr Oziast. We held on for the last few mins after that for a hard fought win. Best for us on the day were Alan Murphy, Kevin Linehan and Tadhg Collins.
