We beat Grangevale 5-1 in the town park to ensure our survival in division 1 for next season. We were poor in the 1st half and went behind in the 20th min. Chances were hard to come by until in the 45th min Shane Dineen won the ball in the tackle and fed Donagh Murphy. Murphy played a ball into the feet of Paul Dawson who controlled it well and fired home at the near post. The goal gave us a bit lift and we took the lead 5 mins into the 2nd half. Dineen played in Tadhg Collins who held off the defender and finished well. We had a number of chances after that but had to wait until the 75th min to get the third. A long ball sent Collins clear again and he slotted home for his 2nd if the day. Just 5 mins later he had his hat trick when he latched on to a kick out from keeper Colin Feeley and finished well. Feeley was again the provider 5 mins from time when another long kick found Michael Murphy who rounded the keeper and tapped in to round off the day in style. Best for us on the day were Eamon o Keeffe, Michael Murphy and Oisin Murphy.
Thanks to Tim Kiely for all the match reports this year.
Well done, Tim and the lads. Never in doubt 🙂
It’s been a good week for you Tim! Having Tevez as captain won you the Millstreet Fantasy Football by 1 point! :-)Congrats.
If the ref had given Bale that penalty instead of booking him for diving, it would have been a totally different story !!! … but well done to Tim in the end for scraping it from Mick Walsh and myself. Final standings for the Millstreet Fantasy Football League are:
(22nd May: table updated after a very late points change, which means it’s a dead heat for first place)
