A lovely lady, Peggy was the wife of the late Autie O’Keeffe
With thanks to Nikki for the photo of Peggy.
I would just like to say that the people of Millstreet and surrounding towns are truly amazing! The kindess, compassion and support over the last number of days has been extremely touching!
More importantly the people of Milstreet have wrapped their arms around Peggy O’ Keeffe over the last 79 years ever since she went to Drishane and have reluctantly let her go until the day she passed away on Friday. To know that she had so many family members, friends, and neighbours keeping a close eye on her, especially since Autie died has given us a great sense of peace and comfort. She spoke so highly of you all and was always in great form when she came back from town or after someone had called to see her.
She was a very special lady and we adored her. She will live forever in our hearts.
Thank you.
She lived in Millstreet Parish for most of her long life
Her name was Peggy Tarrant before she became Autie O Keeffe’s wife
She and Autie raised their children John and Peg in Minor Row
Such people as they were nice people to know
With shoulder length dark brown wavy hair in her life’s prime
Though this is going back many decades in time
One of the prettiest in Millstreet in the days of old
In her ways a nice person and quite beautiful to behold
The great gift of life from Peggy O Keeffe may have gone
But in all who knew her good memories of her will live on
She lived as a good person of her one can say
And her family and friends worse off for her passing today
Her journey in life may have come to an end
But many in Millstreet will miss her as a friend
With Autie in St Mary’s her last remains lay
From where they used to live just a short walk away.

That is a beautiful poem and very a apt tribute to Nana. We are extremely grateful that we have a such a lovely way in which to remember her. Thanks to everyone for their condolences whether in person or sent. Nana would have been touched at the huge outpouring of grief and love for her and goes to show how highly regarded and esteemed she was to so many people.
When I text a friend to say peg passed away r.i.p, his reply was “she was a real lady”, that says everything about her, kind, loving, generous, a true friend. Personally and all here at Colemans will always miss her. All our love xxxxx
