Sorry to learn of Christy’s passing. First met him during a visit to Park in 1949. I know he had been sick for a long time.
Condolences to all the O’Leary’s during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Christy.
Maureen Fogarty, Blauvelt, NY (daughter of Margaret Buckley, Park)
Thank you so much for thinking on my dad Christy.
His daughter Noreen
Noreen, In case you don’t remember, I’m the lady you met at the Wallis Arms last May. I was with Nono (Buckley) O’Connor, her daughter and grandchild, Catriona and John, and my daughter, Kerry Fogarty. It was a chance meeting, but I am so glad it happened. Hadn’t seen you since you were a little girl.
Again, my sympathy to you and all your family during this difficult time.
Fondly,
Maureen xo xo
Now I know who I replied to
I was wondering
It was great to meet you
Noreen
Quite a likeable fellow as all who knew and knew of him would agree
Christy O’ Leary will be sadly missed in Knocknagree
A man known and well liked in places far and wide
Beyond the borders of Duhallow and Sliabh Luachra’s countryside
Quite an honorable fellow Christy lived as a good man
And as human years go his was a lengthy span
Though the breath of life from his mortal body has gone
He has many descendants and his genes will live on
One who lived his life in an honorable way
And he did have a good innings of him one can say
To the scythe of life’s Reaper we eventually must fall
Since we are born to mortality and death is for us all
In Millstreet Hospital Christy O’ Leary lived his last night and day
And in his home Village of Knocknagree his last remains lay.
