John Daly played Gaelic Football with Cork and Millstreet
A stylish and classy forward he was quick on his feet
And with Evergreen United he starred in League of Ireland Football
He was a fine sportsman and a gentleman overall
An octogenarian he was one who had a long life span
In Inchaleigh by Millstreet Town he grew into a man
Though in two codes of football against the best he did play
A humble enough man in his own quiet way
One who was devoted to his family and the late Kathleen his wife
The honourable man led an honourable life
He was one who made for himself many a friend
But sadly for him his life’s journey has come to an end
From Inchaleigh sixty kilometres away
In Cork the remains of John Daly lay
In human years his was quite a lengthy span
On his day he was a fine sportsman and he lived as a good man.
