A very important meeting will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel tonight. Organised by the Community Council. The theme for tonight’s meeting deals with the first phase of the writing of the History of Millstreet. Our Parish Church and O’Regan’s Mills to start with. Tonight’s meeting will give those present their last opportunity to read over the script of the two local features before they go to print. This important meeting starts at 8.30 and All are welcome.
Millstreet Gramophone circle will hold the monthly meeting at the Canon O Donovan Centre on Friday night next March 24th, starting at 8.15. Presenter Seán Radley. And all are welcome.
The AGM of the Lotto Committee will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Saturday night next March 25th starting at 7pm. And all are welcome.
St. Patrick’s Day with all its hype is over for another year and there is merit due to all the communities around the country who put such great effort into paying the highest honour to our Patron Saint. Once again the weather wasn’t good but the shows went on regardless. And may the good St. Patrick look after us all until his time comes round again.
Our St Patricks Church was full to capacity on Thursday last when His Lordship Bishop Brown Confirmed up to 80 young people and made them strong and perfect Christians. The weather was beautiful as the multitudes spilled out into the afternoon sun. Many congratulations to all concerned.
A coffee Morning organised by Mary Fitzgerald, in aid of Daffodil Day will be held at the GAA Hall on this Thursday March 23rd. Opening at 9.30. Further collections will be held in the Town. Donations of Daffodils welcome. Please support them all well.
The 36th sponsored Weigh In closed in Cullen last Monday night. €5,500 was collected so far and 450 pounds weight was lost. James Collins, Millstreet lost the most at 30 pounds, 2nd Denis Hickey Knocknagree, 25 lbs Tade O Mahony Cullen, 3rd. 20lbs In the Ladies Catriona Buckley Rathcoole, lost 25 lbs, 2nd Anne O’Connor, Boherbue 22lbs 3rd Breda FitzGerald Millstreet, 18lbs, The most money was brought in by Tade OMahony ,Cullen €370. Pat O’Connor, Doon, €300. Thomas Kelleher Cullen, €278. Once again we congratulate the Cullen Special Association,and their supporters, on their great work for a needy cause.
They are packing them in at The Glen Theatre these times when their hilarious comedy Second Honeymoon is on. It’s a show not to be missed. Their number there is 02956239 for information of all their events.
The Millstreet Vintage Club will hold a Tractor Run on Sun. March 26th. Sign in at Dromtarriffe Hall at 12 noon. Departing from there at 1pm sharp.
