A huge crowd attended the official opening of our newly extended Sheltered Housing Complex in the Clara Rd on Sunday.
Blessed by Canon Jack FitzGerald and opened by Dr. Michael Feeley, the speakers showered praise on Mary Feeley who, in her capacity as manager has seen this important facility go from strength since is was first open in the ‘90s. The new extensions means that many new services are now added to their previous list. The beautiful weather on Sunday showed the place off at its very best, people in summer attire strolled around met with friends and enjoyed Jerry Pat’s wonderful BBQ. Indoors there was tea and cake plus music and dancing for those who wanted to take the floor. Children made good use of the bouncing castle and face-painting, and played in the warm sunshine.
On behalf of our Community, I want to congratulate all those who were involved in bringing this state of the art facility to the high standard that it is enjoying today. For details of what they have to offer please give them a ring at 02970926.
Our own Mary Buckley is still hitting the headlines, for all the right reasons. Having held a very successful fundraiser at her home in Laught some weeks ago, in aid of the Mercy Hospital, she will travel there on Friday morning next to present her total to this place which has been so good to her and her family. This years total amounted to €3,265. In 2016 she raised in excess of €6,000, meaning that in the past two years this kindhearted lady has raised €10,000 for the Mercy Hospital. Well done Mary, may God reward your great work .
