Eily’s Report – 27th June

The Annual Mass at St. Johns Well takes place this evening Tuesday June 27th. Starting at 7.30. Lets hope it will be blessed with fine weather.

Once again we have a feast of Equestrian Events to look forward to in the months ahead at the wonderful Green Glens/Drishane Complex. These are some important dates for your diary, some almost at our doorstep already:

  • FEI European Eventing Championships – Monday 17th July to Sunday 23rd July.
  • Millstreet International Horse Show – Tuesday 1st August to Sunday 6th August.
  • Millstreet International Horse Trials – Tuesday 22nd to Sunday 27th August.

Please take note of these important dates and be ready to support them as they come on stream. Again we look forward to a spectacular parade through the town with many nations taking part. [millstreet.horse]

We are all called upon to keep Millstreet a clean and looking well, for these international events and indeed at all times.

Give your help to our Tidy Towns group, their flowers and planting around the town look really well, and very soon some extra notice boards will be added to the ones already there, giving the visitor full information of the many lovely features that we have to offer. Many congratulations to Jerry and Ann-Marie O Mahony, who raised  a staggering €5,450,00 in aid of the Irish Community Air Ambulance fund.They held a most enjoyable coffee morning at their home  in Clara, it was very well attended and the sun shone brightly on their efforts, at the picturesque setting at the foot of Clara Mountain. Jerry, Anne-Marie and all their family would like to thank everybody who made their event so successful and so enjoyable. [more]

 

The Burke and McCarthy Families want to thank all those who supported their recent church gate collection in aid of Courtmacherry Lifeboats, which amounted to €1,932.05. [more]

 

The people of Cullen held their annual Feis on Sunday, a great crowd attended in excellent weather .

Still with Cullen Their National School have made a CD, showcasing childrens music and singing which was launched at their Feis on Sunday.Be on the look out for a copy.

 

And congratulations to Nora Hickey, (Nee Moynihan and sister of the popular Diamond Sisters) who has launched her single entitled Happy Days in Heaven by Niall O Brien. It will be widely available in the near future. We will keep you informed. [more]

 

The Cullen and District Special Needs Association will hold their Annual Threshing and fun for all day on July 23rd. Extra helpers are always needed.

 

The Millstreet Athletic Club held at Primary Schools Sports Day in the Town Park on Monday and a great crowd attended.

 

Their annual Willie Neenan Road Race will be held this Friday evening next June 30th. Registration at the GAA Hall  from 6.30. Walkers  begin at 7.30, runners at 8.15.

 

Please forgive me if I congratulate my granddaughter Georgina (Stanley) and her Husband Mark O Callaghan, Altamount, on the birth of their twins. A Boy and a Girl who were born at daybreak on Monday. We wish them Gods Blessing in the future.

 

All Ireland Rally for Life will be held in Dublin on Saturday July 1st. Buses will leave both Macroom and Mallow, for details ring 0872823631.

 

A coarse in Youth Ministry 2017/18 will be held in St. Johns Pastoral Centre, Tralee on Tuesday nights from 8-10 .

The end of term mass was held at Cloghoula national School on Friday last. The Mass was followed by a wonderful BBQ served up by Jerry Pat and his staff, and was enjoyed by family friends and neighbours who continue to support Cloghoula School.

And now that the schools are closing for the Summer Holidays Id like to wish all concerned a very happy, and very safe Summer Break.
