Holiday makers were fortunate to get two fine days out of three at the Bank Holiday weekend. Everybody headed for the out of doors, our lovely Country Park enjoying a bumper crowd. There was a marked increase in the number of our people choosing to holiday at home, resulting in huge crowds at all the touristy places. Let us hope the trend continues throughout the rest of the year
Please let me remind you of the Tidy Towns Clean-up, tonight starting in town at 7.30 and they are appealing for your full co-operation.
Our Development committees meet at regularly, to make Millstreet a better place, The Tourism committee would welcome some more people with new ideas and new thinking to help them with their ambitious plans for the future. A new list of accommodation is being compiled and anybody who would like to get involved, please contact Veronica O Callaghan or any member.
Among other things they plan to hold a special Shopping Week in the town from June 14th to 19th, with every business giving special offers. So be on the look out for it.
Our Corpus Christy procession was very well attended on Saturday evening following the 6.30 vigil Mass, and could very well set a precedent for the future, instead Sunday afternoon as it had been over the years.
Fr. Paddy O Byrne and Mons Manning were both ordained on the same date, though no at the same place on June 19th, 50 years ago, and to celebrate the occasion they with concelebrate Mass at turbid Well at 11am on Saturday 19th of this June and all are welcome. Fr. Paddy will have his own Golden Jubilee celebrations on Friday June 25th.
The annual Mass for students about to start exams, will be said at Tubrid Well to-night, starting at 8, celebrant as usual Fr.Kevin Mulcahy.
And I want to wish all students the best of luck in the weeks to come. And to assure them that the worst is over, the preparation is always the worst. There is an old Chinese saying, that the student who studies the night before the exam, deserves to fail. So as you say yourselves, chill out
