Please take note that  tonight’s  meeting of the Community Council  has been cancelled owing  the Ireland/ Denmark Game which will played at the Aviva Stadium  and broadcast on RTE2 from 7.45.

The Millstreet Christmas Market will be held at the GAA Hall on Sunday November 26th. Just the place to catch up with friends for a cup ‘o tea and a chat, also to pick up some nice Christmas Presents. Local Calendars for 2018 will also be on sale there. The proceeds to go to the Christmas Lights Fund.

Christmas Lights Church Gate collection this weekend November 18/19 Please support them well.

The Community Council Talent Competition is the talk of the town. And the organisers are delighted with the response. There’s €800 in prize money up for grabs.The qualifying rounds are:

  • The Pub in Carriganima on next Friday night Nov 17th
  • McCarthy’s Bar on November 24th
  • Tarrants Bar on November 25th
  • The Bush Bar on December 1st
  • The Clara Inn on December 2nd.

Everybody is asked to come out and support this exciting  venture which is bound to add some lustre and fun to the weeks and months ahead.

 

Our Vintage Club are asking us to keep Sunday November 19th free  for their celebration of the 100 years of Ford in Ireland with a History of the Ford Family Motor Company and Ford Family Film Show to be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel, starting at 3pm. on November 19th. Some very interesting Speakers. All are welcome to attend, Vintage and Classic Ford Vehicle display outside the Hotel in the Town Square. It’s a show not to be missed. Our fondest congratulations go out this week to the lovely Murphy/Pomeroy Triplets, Katlyn, Lydia and Kirsten,  who celebrated their 18th birthday during the week. Best of luck always girls.

 

The Duhallow Choral Society will hold an enchanting Christmas concert in Millstreet Parish Church on Friday December 8th. Proceeds will go to the local Hospital Fund. Tickets on sale in the local shops.

And still with December, there’s another date for your diary . It’s a workshop on Holy Wells, to be held here in Tuesday 28th of December. It will be hosted by Dr. Richard Scriven  from the Department of Geography UCC. More details later.

The Scriven name is not new to Millstreet. Dr. Richard is son of Tom who is an avid cyclist and walking enthusiast, and he lectured in Millstreet when our Walking Club was getting started and also helped with the  development of the Bearra Brefni Way.

 

The Blessing of the Cematries was carried out here on Sunday. Canon FitzGerald blessed the local graveyards and the Keel or Paupers Graveyard in the Clara Rd  was blessed by Fr. Sean Tucker.

Mass for all those who passed away in Millstreet, in the last 12 months will be said in Millstreet church on Saturday November 25th.

 

Legion of Mary meeting at the Parish Centre every Tuesday night at 8 and all welcome.

 

The Millstreet Gramophone Circle Meeting this Friday night at the Day Centre starting at 8.15. Presenter Con Kelleher Cloghoulabeg.

 

45Drive at the same venue every Tuesday night starting at 9. and all are welcome. Proceeds to the Centre Fund.

 

The  Annual Little Women’s Christmas Gala  Party will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Jan. 6th. Tickets are on sale at €25 each. Music by the ever popular Kelt.

 

Knitting Club from 7-9 every Tuesday night at the cosy Adult Learning Centre, and all are welcome.

 

And feel free to contact the Canon O’Donovan Centre any day and get a list of all that they have to offer, by way of daily meals, nursing care,  singing, and transport to and fro if needed and lots more .    Their number is 029 70926.

 

Please support the Eucharistic Adoration in Millstreet on Tuesday and Wednesdays from 10.30 am .to 10.30 pm and in Cullen on Thursdays from 10am to 7pm.

 

Confessions in Millstreet every Saturday from 12.30 to 1.

 

Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at Corkery’s Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were, 6,21,25,32. and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Muriel Cronin, Altamount. The seller was the Camogie Club and they got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Fionn  Saorlaith Corkery Coomlogane, €20 each went to Marie Lehane, Ballydaly, Eileen Healy, Claracleagh.
