And what a wonderful weekend it has been. Dawn to dawn celebrations. It started well with the Bradley Family winning our Lotto Jackpot of €8,400.
Then the Knocknagree All Ireland victory in Croke Park on Saturday. That night Cullen GAA lauded their brilliant team of ‘67 who won no less than three cups that year, and every man was presented with a beautiful plaque, comprising of a photograph of the team plus a medal. The presentation was made by Jeffrey O Sullivan (lifelong President of the Club), at a gala social held at the East Avenue Hotel on Saturday night.
But there was no time to sit back, next door neighbours Kanturk were in the hot seat next day in Croke Park where they continued the winning streak by claiming All Ireland victory at Hurling. They partied away the hours at the famed Red Cow Hotel, to the live entertainment of our own Kelt.
And Johnnie Sextons last minute score took us back to ’87 and Pakie Bonners brilliant save which led us to the World Cup.
It almost too much to take in. Congratulations all round.
Now to bring back down to earth. A very important meeting on Crime prevention will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel tonight (Tuesday February 6th), organised by the Community Council. It starts at 8 sharp. Members of An Garda Siochana will attend . Information will be available on Personal Alarms for the Elderly and it’s the final night for signing up for the all-important Text Alert Scheme for 2018.
To join you sign your name and address mobile phone number on the given form, and pay €10 annual fee to cover the cost of the phone alert calls that you will receive.
People attending can sign up for others who cannot be there.

Our Camogie Club will have their AGM tonight, at the Parish Centre, from 7-9. New members welcome.
Both the GAA and Pitch ‘n Putt Clubs have their AGMs at the GAA Hall on this Friday night at 9, and all are welcome.
In spite of the bad night 40 people attended the Weigh In in Cullen last night and 41 pounds weight was lost.
The weighing was followed by the weekly jiving session.
A Cake Sale organised by the Community School will be held after the vigil Mass this Saturday night at the Parish Centre, to support four students who will go as helpers to Lourdes at Easter.
The Aubane Social Club want to thank all those who supported their Christmas Day Climb of Mushera Which raised €380 for their Defibrillator fund.
Our Christmas Lights Committee would like to thank the Electricians and all who volunteered their time and equipment to decorate the town so beautifully for the Festive Season.

Before the Draw on Sunday night the Jackpot Cheque of €8,400 was presented to 18 year old Matthew Bradley, Coachford, accompanied by many family members including his Gran. Mrs.O Brien, of Derrinagree … and the ever popular Sean Radley was there to record it all on film.
Boherbue/Kiskeam Active Retired Group will be going to Wexford on May 14 for 4 nights . Members of other groups are invited to join them, More details later.
And many thanks to all at the Presentation Convent School who organised a beautiful Mass during the week, for parents and grandparents, followed by refreshments for all at the school. The children’s singing and music was enchanting.
Wednesday of next week is Ash Wednesday and also St. Valentine’s Day. Easter Sunday will be on April the first.
And a Fundraising Concert at the GAA Hall on Saturday February 10. For Anna Buckley who will be going to India with HOPE this Summer.
