It is indeed heartening to see that in spite of wind and weather, we still have people who are determined to press on and bring help where help is needed, be it in the form of fodder for animals or ways of cheering people up in these trying times.
The Trad Fest which was held at the weekend was wonderful and varied. Little children got up early on Friday morning and travelled to Cork where they sang their little hearts out and came second in their category, much to the delight of their families and they danced in our GAA Hall again with great success, next morning. Up to 90 sets in all entered the competition, and there was a capacity crowd at Wallis Arms that night for a Gala Concert. There was something for everyone.
Other than that there were pockets of music in the bars in town. And the Feile Ceol which was held at the Community School on Sunday brought a wonderful weekend to a close. Bringing Children out brings parents out and there was a wonderful atmosphere of enjoyment throughout. Well done to the hard working organisers.
And there’s a children’s Festival on April 28th.
Meanwhile out in Aubane, their Social Club are re enacting the 270th anniversary of the Butter Rd. Which will include a five course banquet on Friday night May 18th, Tickets at €27 can be had from any member or ring 0879486673.
At our Community Council meeting on Tuesday night, Cultural Day was mentioned, it will be held on September 21st and people are asked to start early to prepare some activities for it which will keep us up with all the other communities around the country who will be taking part.
