Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely calm and sunny,Tuesday morning.

And a very fond hello to Betty Carroll of Liscarroll, who listens in every Tuesday morning, nice to have you along Betty.

Well this is the week that we’ve all been waiting for, The Millstreet Summer Horse Show. It’s had a fairly rough ride but  now its all systems go. Entries are flowing in and the venue looks a picture with all the new improvements that have been added plus a host of flowers and shrubs in full bloom. On site stabling for hundreds of horses. Self service Restaurant, plus shops and trade stands. Admission is free all week, and prize money on €130,000 up for grabs, sponsored entirely by the Duggans.

It will run from to-day to Sunday. Starting off quietly to-day and building up over the  coming days to the  mighty Grand Prix on Sunday with prize money on €30,000.

Courtney’s Amusements have moved into our Town Park for the duration. And on Saturday a huge food Fair and Craft Fair will be held in our Town Square.

So please come out in you thousands and support all the efforts that are being made to keep Millstreet on the map. 

Millstreet Country Park is open every day, with all Park facilities up and running.

Notes for the September issue of Clara News are due in to the Editor on August 20th.

A lovely Female Labrador dog was found in the Square in our town Square on Saturday, obviously a family pet. Contact Mary at 087 7906619.

Many congratulations to Joseph Lawlor on winning the  Best Summer Outfit at the Mid-Summer Dance & BBQ which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel last week in aid of the Tourist Group of the Development Committee. And was awarded €100 for his efforts,kindly sponsored by O Flynn Medical.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Wednesday in our Blessed Sacrement Chapel from 10.30 to 8.30 pm. Drop in any time.

Morning Masses at ten from Monday to Thursday each week and on Fridays at 7.30pm.    Mass in Cullen Church on Thursday evenings at 7.30.

Church Gate collections in aid of Fr. Con. Kiely will be taken up at Ballydaly and Cullen this weekend and on Friday night August 20th the proceeds will be presented to Fr. Con. at a special reception which will be held at Ballydaly Hall and all are welcome.

Holy Ghost Mission Fathers will assist at all Masses this weekend.

The Irish Cancer Society want to say a very sincere word of thanks to all those who supported their recent Church Gate collection which amounted to €2,829,41.

In Sport.

Millstreet come up against Dromtariffe in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship quarter final in Cullen on Friday evening with a 7.15pm throw in.

 In  the U14  duhallow football  league final Millstreet V Kanturk to-night, Tuesday 10th August in Boherbue at 7:30pm  and we wish them the best of good luck.

Please keep an eye on events at Mallow Hospital and be ready to support this wonderful facility at every opportunity.

Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 2, 5, 7, 10 and the Lucky winner of our Jackpot of €7,000 was Mary Reardon, Minor Row, the seller was her husband Jerry of the Millwheel Restaurant and he got €700 sellers prize. On presenting the cheque, co-chairman Denis Twomey congratulated the Reardon Family on their fine win adding that they have been staunch supporters of the lotto since it was set up many years ago.

€20 each went to the following ten people,
