ALPS Electric (Ireland) Limited celebrated its 30th Anniversary at its facility in Millstreet, Co. Cork today. Mr. Toshihiro Kuriyama, President of Alps Alpine was joined by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Michael Creed TD; Japanese Ambassador, Ms. Mari Miyoshi, and IDA Ireland’s CEO, Martin Shanahan in marking the auspicious occasion.
ALPS Electric (Ireland) Limited was founded in Millstreet Town, County Cork in 1988 as a manufacturing base of ALPS Customers in Europe. Manufacturing is mainly dedicated to Automotive Customers in Europe, delivering high quality electronic products to exacting delivery requirements. In the past 10 years, Alps Ireland has also developed locally products for the medical devices and IOT markets.
Today ALPS Electric (Ireland) Limited employs over 700 people in Millstreet Town. The Facility has 56,000 square feet of world class manufacturing space and including SMT, moulding, decorative parts painting and lasering marking capabilities.
Addressing the guests and staff Mr. Toshihiro Kuriyama, President of Alps Alpine thanked the Irish Government, IDA Ireland, the Japanese Ambassador, AIB and the local Millstreet community for their support over the past 30 years. He also commended Alps team in Ireland saying “Recently, many manufacturing companies in Europe are moving to Eastern Europe and Asian countries, and BREXIT issue may indirectly impact positively or negatively to ALPS Ireland operation, however ALPS Ireland is evolving and growing here in Ireland. By continuing to develop its own business and engineering efforts, I believe Alps Ireland will become stronger company into the future”
Minister Michael Creed TD said “On behalf of the Irish Government I would like to thank Alps Electric Ltd for the significant contribution they have made to the local economy by providing consistent employment here for three decades now. I wish Mr Kuriyama and the local team in Alps Ireland continued success here.”
Japanese Ambassador to Ireland, Ms. Mari Miyoshi stated it was an honour for her to attend and celebrate with the largest Japanese company in Ireland.
IDA CEO Martin Shanahan said “Alps Electric Ltd is a great example of how a Japanese company can successfully operate, develop and scale its operations in a regional location. The benefit of the company’s longevity in the region is significant. IDA Ireland’s relationship with Alps dates to 1988 when the company opened its manufacturing facility in Millstreet, and that relationship has continued through the years. Alps can be assured of our continued support as they work toward future milestones.”
