The first frosts of winter were crisp on everything when we got up on Monday morning. The sudden drop in temperatures sent us reaching for our warm boots and scarves. But the noon sun came out and melted it all away.
On Sunday last which was Mission Sunday, some fruits of the earth were placed on the Alter for all Masses and the Priest thanked the Lord for the abundance food for both man and beast which the land produced over the past number of months and prayed for the hands that worked on them. The choir sang hymns appropriate for the occasion.”All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all”. Buíochas le Dia.
The 37th annual National Dairy Show went off well at the Green Glens on Saturday. With a large amount of entries, plus many trade stands and talks and demos with much emphasis on safety on the farm .
Next up will be the Pony Owners Show this weekend October 25/6/7. Again the mighty Green Glens will play host to the large number of entries and their entourage. Many needy cases will benefit by this annual event. It’s held every year for charity and has raised thousands for good causes over the years. Admission is free all the way, with most of the competitions held indoors.
The early weeks of November will see the return of the mighty Self Build Show so the Wheel of Millstreet keeps on turning.

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to anybody who is visiting us at the moment. It’s Bank Holiday weekend and we have a lot to offer . Notice Boards in the Town give full information about where to go and what to do during your stay.
We are very proud of our town at the moment with a case of overall co-operation, taking place. Our Town Park Committee have plans to make improvements not least among them a new children’s playground. Nothing comes cheap and in an effort to help the cause along our Lotto Committee have decided to give all moneys raised to this one venture for the moment. The lotto is run in aid of the Town Park, our local GAA Clubs, the Community Council and the Youth Complex. For the time being they will all row in behind the Town Park, to help get this great work completed. Other bodies are also donating much needed cash and people can give at the Credit Union or hand in cheques at the Office at the Youth Complex .
Our Town Park is a wonderful facility which can be enjoyed by everybody young and not so young. And we wish the organisers every success with this ambitious contract.
Many congratulations to our U13 Girls Camogie Team who won the Avondhu Final at 10 am in Ballyhea on Saturday Morning.
Congrats also to the U12 Duarigle Gaels who won the County Final against Fermoy on Saturday, at 3 pm. They were greeted by bands and guards of honour both in Millstreet and Cullen on their arrival home, Well done to the teams,and many thanks to all those helped them in any way.
There was fun for all at the Bush Bar on Saturday night for the Mock Wedding which was held in aid of Sudden Death Syndrome. Well done to Connie Hickey who is every ready to play host to fundraisers for good causes, as well as providing great entertainment for our local people.
Still with the Bush Bar a Gala Halloween Fancy Dress Ball will be held there on Saturday next October 26th in aid of Rylane Boxing Club. There will be a DJ, Bar Extension, and prizes for the best outfits. Another night not to be missed.
Primary School Disco will be held on Friday which includes fancy dress, shop, Raffles and lots of fun.

Due to mid term, the Community Singers with Marie will not be held for the next two weeks.

The news that the roadway by the Church and entry to the car park is to be refurbished, was widely welcomed, and the hope is that work will begin very soon.
