James Cronin

hi, i wrote to you to last year looking for help in finding my grandfather. Since then i have found out a little bit; his name was James Cronin whose father was Jeremiah. We found out his mother’s name was Maria Dennehy. They had lived in Skagh??  My grandfather was born on September 1915 i am looking for any information on what happened to him after 1941. I know he married Ellen Shine in June of that year but not much else. I know he had at least one brother, and maybe 2 sisters. Any help would be great. Absolutly love the site. Great for keeping up with local news. Tks again for any help.

Skagh is an area Between Derrinagree and Boherbue. It is shown on Google Maps. However Skagh is also an electoral area that included Cloonbannin, Coolcloher East, Dernagree, Drominagh, Island Dahill, Knockacarracoosh, Meenskeha, and other townlands. The Census of 1911 gives a better idea of the area and who was living there.

  1. I was just wondering if you found your Maria Dennehy and if there is any connection in her family tree to a Nora Dennehy. She had a brother Edward and they were from somewhere in Limerick. My mother-in-law was given up at birth (1938) and although we fully expect Nora (her mother) to have passed on. She would just like some information regarding her. If you can help in any way that would be great. I do appreciate that Limerick is a large area and Dennehy not an unusual name, but you never know! Thank you. Tracey
