My dear parishioners,

It has been great to have the Church open again for Mass & to greet the people of the various Station Districts & celebrate Mass together.  The regulations allow us only to have 50 in the church and it is very confining but please God in the New Year we will be able to gather again in prayer as a larger community.

Christmas is coming near us & to accommodate people as well as we can, from & including Sunday 13th to Sunday 27th we will have Mass in each church everyday according to the rota accompanying this.  We will celebrate God’s merciful forgiveness at the start of Mass & please use your area Mass as an invaluable opportunity to receive Holy Communion for Christmas.  Within the constrictions imposed on us we hope that we will still be flexible enough to celebrate the coming of Jesus into human history.  For both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses, so that as many as possible and to be fair to everyone we will stream the Mass into every home that has a computer, smartphone or laptop.  The youth are our experts here and the code is included on the rota of Masses.  Derrinagree Mass will be at 7.30pm on Christmas Eve & Dromagh Mass on Christmas  Day at 10.30am.  The church of the home has always been important & so we hope that all families will be able to gather together at home & spend that hour in prayer with all the parish.  The church will be closed for these Masses as we could not turn people away once 50 was reached.

Our thanks to our wonderful parishioners who have been very accommodating & supportive.  So many volunteers have done trojan work.  Thanks.  Please God although Christmas is different this year it will still be a joyful & marvellous occasion as we contemplate Our God come among us.

Praise & glory to our God, Hosanna in the highest.

Wishing you all a happy, holy & safe Christmas

Fr Tom

Kerry Youth Virtual Choir

To celebrate Christmas, the Diocese of Kerry has embarked on a new and exciting venture, we have formed a youth virtual choir.  There are over 30 young people from parishes throughout the diocese involved in this project.  They come from parish choirs, school choirs and parish folk groups.  The virtual choir video will be launched from Wednesday, December 16th on the diocesan You-Tube page, see https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-6sYgdt-EzcLwuJ5G4E51w, the diocesan website, see https://www.dioceseofkerry.ie/ and the diocesan Facebook page, see https://www.facebook.com/KerryDiocese/posts/4054332214580237.   Also see the Diocese of Kerry Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/youthdok/?hl=en

Celebrating Christmas 2020 – Guidelines from the Diocese

While parishes are working hard to enable as many people as possible to attend Mass over the coming weeks, it is evident that for many of us, we will be present at Christmas Mass online.

To enhance our experience and sense of prayer at this time:

  • Why not place your crib close to where you will sit to ‘attend’ Mass online?
  • Light a candle just before Mass begins….
  • Stand to hear the Gospel proclaimed
  • Join in the responses
  • Stand to pray the Our Father with all those gathered in our churches and all of us gathering in homes all over the world.
  • Visit the crib in the church during the Christmas days – bring all your intentions for loved ones in your heart.

These resources might help your prayer at home: https://www.dioceseofkerry.ie/2020/12/celebrating-christmas-2020/
