Attached please find a letter from Bishop Ray Browne, regarding the Diocesan changes which come into effect on 20th July. As Dromtariffe Parish is now without a resident priest this will impact on all Parishes and over the coming weeks a review of Mass times will take place. I will communicate all decisions as they are reached. Thanking you for your continued support. Fr. Fitzgerald.
Dear Parishioner,
I write to inform you that from this summer, the parish of Dromtariffe will no longer have a priest resident in the parish. Each of the priests in the Duhallow Sliabh Luachra Pastoral Area will now minister to the parish of Dromtariffe with one priest taking the lead role as Moderator. Dromtariffe will continue to be a separate parish and will continue to have the fullness of parish life.
In the coming months, the Diocesan Pastoral Team will guide and support the parish and pastoral area through this time of transition. While the decrease in the number of clergy in the diocese is very challenging, there is a positive dimension to this new reality. It provides an opportunity for laity to take their rightful place in leadership roles in all our parishes.
Due to the commitment of clergy and laity and the preparation that has been underway throughout the diocese at parish and pastoral area level, I believe Dromtariffe parish and the Duhallow Sliabh Luachra Pastoral Area will adjust well.
I offer you, the people and the priests of the Duhallow Sliabh Luachra Pastoral Area, my support at this time. I will keep you in my prayers as you strive to respond to this new situation.
May God watch over us all with his Fatherly care.
Yours sincerely,
