CONNOISSEURS of dairy cows are in for a treat at the National Dairy Show in Millstreet, Co Cork on Saturday, October 17.
The event will be the Miss Ireland of milk production, bringing together all the top cows from the AIB National Livestock Show at Tullamore, the Baileys Cow championship, the Spring Fair, and the YMA championship.
Show entries secretary Pat Ahern confirmed at last Monday’s launch of the event that exhibitors bidding for the Irish Examiner Supreme Championship at Millstreet include all the top names in Holstein Friesian breeding.
Meanwhile, the fastest growing section of the show, the Jerseys, continues to go from strength to strength.
The show also features the Irish Examiner Farming forum with speakers on finance, feeding, quotas, animal health and milk prices – headed up by ICMSA president Jackie Cahill and IFA dairy chairman Richard Kennedy.
A large display of trade stands and a sale of pedigree heifers will also attract farmers, and activities for all the family will include full entertainment facilities for children, plus cookery demonstrations and flower arranging.
