Having had to be deferred from last Sunday due to significantly high water level at the River Blackwater the now annual Swim at the Boeing took place at 12.30 p.m. . And what a tremendously cheerful and spirited occasion it was covered by John Tarrant for the Press and by William, Ita and Brendan for LTV2 Millstreet (likely to be transmitted this week on LTV2). The Organisers must certainly take a bow not only for the overall coordination of the event but for their emphasis on Health and Safety. The Sponsors of the colourful t-shirts and Poet Francis Duggan (in Australia) were praised by speakers Eileen and Michelle with Francis’s poem on the annual event recited to the delight of the many supporters present which included the wonderfully young-at-heart Mrs. Tessie Kelleher accompanied by her daughter. Michael Collins was the oldest to participate in the Swim while for website colleague, Hannelie O’Connor for whom it was her first attempt to take part in the actual swim, the spring-like weather helped to blend her into the cool experience! Here we share images from the most enjoyable, welcoming and successful occasion. (S.R.)
Well done everyone. Looked very cold, hope you all had something stiff afterwards.
