Our Community Council Awards lived up to its good name once again.
Every ticket was sold out for Friday night’s event which was held the Wallis Arms Hotel. A wonderful four-course meal, including wine was served, there were spot prizes galore, and music was by the ever popular Kelt, and all for a mere €25 ticket.

Members of our clergy, Canon John FitzGerald and Fr Paddy O Byrne attended. Master of ceremonies was  Councillor Noel Buckley, Chairman of the Community Council, and he carried out his task with the grace and panache as only Noel can. He was aided by Council Secretary Catherine O’Shea and Maura Kiely.

All of the recipients were overjoyed to be chosen, and to be lauded by their own people, which is the greatest honour  of all.
