The Month of June is upon us and in the weeks to come the first of the judging for the National Tidy Towns Competition and other smaller Awards will begin. Already there are signs of great improvements, in our area, such as painting of houses, fixing of walls and fences, not least among them the re-vamping of Matt Murphy’s wall, in Minor Row where he so laboriously painted the flags of all the Countries that took part in the EuroVision Song Contest when it came to Millstreet in 1993. People are asked to please keep up the Good work, give all the help you can to our vibrant committee in their quest to turn last year bronze medal into silver this time round.
Millstreet Summer Horse Show will be bigger and better this year and will be held from August 8th to 12th. Lots of accommodation will be needed. Those with good quality accommodation to offer please ring the Greens Glens at 029 70707 right away.
There’s a lovely String Concert coming up at Drishane Castle on this Friday, June the first. It will be given by the pupils of the Community School. and will comprise of both Traditional & Classical Music. They are taking it to Derry at the end of June and hope to raise funds to cover some of the cost of their trip at Drishane. Please make a note of the date this Friday night, June 1st. and give them your full support.
The Annual Mass was said at Tubrid Well last Friday night, it was celebrated by Canon John FitzGerald and a very large crowd attended. The Pipe band and our Church Choir attended and amplification was provided by John A O Sullivan. Our lovely Tubrid Holy Well attracts crowds of people the whole year round.
Please let me remind you again that we have two defibrillators in the town for public use. One at the entrance to the Youth Centre and the other at the door of the Garda Barracks.
John Kelleher Aubane held a coffee morning at the Pastoral Centre recently and raised €600 in aid of Mary Mount Hospice which he presented to them in the past week. He would like to say many thanks to all who helped and contributed.
Aubane Social Club Family Fun Day will take place in Aubane on Sunday 24th June commencing at 1.30 pm.
Aubane School / Community Centre , Centenary Celebrations will take on Friday 17 – 20 August 2012, They are now looking for old photographs from Past pupils who went to School there. Many congratulations to the popular Liam and Bina Burke Drishane on being presented at the RNLI Ceremony, with the Regional Group Supporters Award for their great fundraising efforts in aid of Courtmacherry Lifeboats. The award was presented to them by Brian Dobson of 6/1 News fame, at a special ceremony which was held it Dublin recently.

There’s a nice function coming up at the Wallis Arms Hotel on this Friday night at which our Our Vintage Club will hand over the proceeds of this years Rally to this years recipients, refreshments will be served, there will be music, and all are welcome. Starts at 9.30.
