Presentation of the Sponsorship Mountain Climb to Courtmacsherry Lifeboat Fund and a Defibrillator for the Aubane Community Centre:

On Tuesday 23th January the proceeds of the Christmas Day Sponsorship Mountain Climb were presented to two charities. The money was split in two ways this year. One local and not so local, but both very deserving of our support. They are
1. The Courtmacsherry Lifeboats Fund: Local man Aidan Burke was lost at sea off Courtmacsherry some years ago, and his parents Abina & Liam Burke were with us on the night to accept the cheque of €2,200 on behalf of the Courtmacsherry Lifeboats Fund RNLI. It is especially relevant now because during the month of January seven fishermen were lost at sea when two seperate trawlers went down off the Waterford coast. Kathleen Kelleher and John Dinnen Treasure on behalf the Aubane Social Club presented the cheque to Liam & Abina Burke
2. The Purchase of a defibulator for the Aubane Community Centre in Aubane, plus training for using it. This includes training for using the defibulator plus CPR training (which everyone should have anyway). On behalf of the Aubane Social Club I would to Thank each and everyone of you who climbed the Mountain on Christmas Day and to you all who donated money to these two deserving charities.
