We’re into the merry month of May and Feile na Bealtainne is in full swing all over Duhallow with events being held at all hours, both early and late. Old Customs and trades are being revived . A fine exhibition of crafts and trades was held at our Millstreet Country Park at the weekend and it drew crowds as were never seen before .
On Thursday night last Drishane Castle came alive to the voices of Our renowned Duhallow Choir followed by a world class Choir from Sweeden. Following the gala performances some wonderful refreshmants were served in the Castle Hall. It was attended by many people who were holidaying from America and they were in awe of the event, and took home with them the word, that Ireland is the place to visit.
And still will Feile na Bealtainne, Our Active Retired Group will host A Monster Table Quiz and Sing along with the Community Singers, at the Wallis Arms Hotel,tomorrow Wednesday night starting at 8 and all are welcome.
Our Local Library will celebrate Feile na Bealtaine on tomorrow Wednesday with songs and stories with Gerard O Callaghan. At 12 noon in the Library.
Annual Mass in Kilcorney to-night at 8pm.
Cork North/West Branch of MS will hold their church gate collection in Newmarket on this Saturday & Sunday May 11/12th.
During the week 1973/78 past pupils of the Community School held a reunion at the Wallis Arms Hotel. It was very attended and special guests on the night were past teachers Ken Brennan and Coleman Culhane.
And still with the Community School,
Their Living Scenes Group at the Community School,will hold an Ceramic Art Exhibition at the School , on Monday May 13th from 2to 3 pm and all are welcome.

Bank Holiday weekend and the fine weather, brought many people out to socialise and I’d like to extend a special Cead Mile Failte to the many people who are home from Australia and other foreign parts at the moment.
All hands are on deck preparing for the EuroVision Tea Party which will be held at the Green Glens on Friday night May 18th.

The O Sullivan Bearr-Brefni Way Heritage Stamps will be officially Launched by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny on Wednesday , May 15th at 7pm at the Mansion House in Dublin. A number of people from Millstreet have been invited to this important event. It will indeed a proud day for all those who have given their all to bring this great tourist attraction to fruition.
A Gala Euro/Style Caraoke Competition will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday May 17th. organised by the Gathering Committee, If youd like to take part give your name to any Member. Tony McCaul. Jerry Pat and others. Numbers are limited so get in touch right away.
DJ on the night will be the popular PJ Cogan.
The All Irleland Sheep-shearing Championships which will be held at the Green Glens on May 25/26 will be an action packed event with something for everyone. And on Saturday 25th our Macra Group will hold a Shave or Dye fundraiser in aid of Conquer Cancer. They are asking the various clubs to take part already our Community council have put foreward Noel Buckley, Jerry O Mahony & Joseph Lawlor.
It’s clean-up time again and Our tidy Towns Committee are swinging into action to make our town a better,cleaner place. They need your help when they meet in the Square on Thursday Night at 7.30. Please come out and give them your support.
