Another busy week has gone by, the weather was good and of the course the main task of the week was to prepare the Green Glens for the hosting of the International Sheep-Shearing Championships. St. John’s GAA Club excelled themselves.
And when the weekend came the place was afar cry from the way it looked the previous weekend for the 20th anniversary of EuroVision. It was all to do with sheep and their needs. Elevated stands made sure that the audience were able to see the experts at their work from their comfortable seating.
Trade Stands abounded , and there was every kind of bouncing castles , merries for the children. And Sheep Dog Trials. Tug o’ War. Dog Show
The crowd was not that big on Saturday but on Sunday they came in their thousands in brilliant sunshine, not that it mattered because there was ample room inside for it all.

The Community singers gave a recital and were very well received, The Show was officially opened by Weather Lady herself Nuala Carey aided by Cork Footballer Noel Lynch , Canon John FitzGerald also attended.
On Saturday night Our young Macra Group hosted a Shave or Dye fundraiser in aid of Cancer and it was very well supported. It was followed by a night of music and dance with the popular Jerry McCarthy as well as Ann Marie O’Riordan. All concerned can take a well earned bow. As I said get all the facts on the web.
The AGM of our Turf Committee was held a few weeks ago and there was an unprecedented demand for turf. Already 75% is cut in Gneeves, and following the fine weather of last week it is in very good condition already. Please God let it continue.
The annual Mass will be said at Tubrid Well this Friday evening, May 31st at 8pm.
And there is a follow up to that now with Mass for those doing Exams on Tuesday again at 8.
Annual Corpus Christi Procession will be held in the town following 11.30 Mass next Sunday. Please support it well.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Millstreet Church on Tuesday and Wednesdays from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm and in Cullen on Thursdays from 10am to 9pm .
This is a correction from the Mass leaflet on Sunday, relating the pitch ‘n Putt Coaching. It will be held for Juveniles & adults on Thursday evening at 6, and not on Friday.
The Final program of LTV2 for this Season will be on Thursday night. Look out for it also on the Millstreet Website: www.millstreet.ie.
The organisers of the Eurovision Tea Party want to thank all those who helped in any way to make it the joyous event that it was.
A note from our Twinning Committee to say that 19 visitors from our Twin Town in Brittany Pommerit-le-Vicompte will be coming in June, from the 8th to the 15th. Among other things, a Gala Dinner Dance will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday June 14th . Tickets €20, Contact Anne 029 70867.
Our Tidy Towns Committee are at an all-time busy, planting the boxes around the place, painting eye-sores. Picking up litter and they need your help. Please support them by picking up any litter that you see. And clean outside your own front, it would help an awful lot. The Co. Council Anti-Litter Campain is on. It started last week, and at the moment they are concentrating on the Town & Murphys Terrace. Be extra vigilant there.
There will be a Party in honour of Fr. Con. Kiely at Ballydaly Hall ,on Sunday night next, June 2nd and all are welcome. Starts at 8.30.
A great crowd gathered in the town on Thursday last to cheer on the Post Rás Cyclists. And they were treated to some welcome refreshments at the GAA Hall.

Millstreet incurred a narrow defeat to Kilbrin in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling League semi final played in Banteer.
On Sunday next, Millstreet face Cullen in a semi final to rhe Ducon Cup in Dromtariffe at 3pm
while on Monday, Millstreet meet St. John’s in the Duhallow Junior B Football League in Millstreet with a 4pm throw in.
