Fondest greetings dear listenes and I wish you all the very best on this cold ‘n frosty, Tuesday morning.

Time and time again Francie Duggan writes a beautiful poem on the Website,  about someone who has died in his native Millstreet and this week is no exception. His fitting lines about the late Lily Guerin (Justice) is a joy for those who knew her well. Well done again Francie.

At the monthly meeting of the Community Council, which was held on Tuesday night, it was decided to host a Community Awards Social again this year. It will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday March 12th. Categories are for Service to the community, Hall of Fame, Youth Award, Cultural and Arts, & Unsung Hero. People are asked to nominate people or person whom they consider best entitled to come under any one of these headings. Please contact Secretary, Marie Bourke, or any council member.

Nominations close on Monday February 8th.

It was also decided at the same meeting to place defibrillators at the entrance to the Youth Centre, and at the Door of the Garda Barracks. Where they will be easily accessible  when needed.

Church door collections in aid of Haiti at all churches in the Kerry Diocese this Weekend January 30/31st. Please give generously to this worthy cause.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night . Numbers drawn were 1, 7, 15, 32 and the jackpot was not won. €100 went to Denis Kelleher, (Bush) Liscahane, The seller was Marie Twomey and she got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Miah Murphy, Gneeves, €20 each to Maggie Twomey c/o Donal Guiney, Geraldine & Jerry O Sullivan, Dooneen, Tony Fitzgeald, Killarney Rd. Noreen O’Sullivan, Kilcummin, Louise O’Connell, Tullig, Fanny O’Connor, West End, Nikki & Patrick c/o Colemans, and Joanne and Kathryn Cleary, c/o The Clara Inn. Jackpot for next week €2,600 the draw at Tarrant’s on Sunday night.

Annual Weigh In in Cullen starts up again on Monday February 1st.

Story-telling at our local Library resumes on Saturdays, suitable  for 3 to 7 year olds from 11am to 12 noon.

Further to that is their Book Club with Kathleen Moynihan, on the first Saturday of every month, starting on Saturday. February 6th at 12 noon.

And because of the week that is in it, a St Bridget’s Cross-making workshop will be held at our Library this Friday January 29th, from 3 to 4 pm.

And be reminded that there is a fines amnesty at our Library till the end of the month. Just bring back the books. No charge for being late.

A note here from Elaine Hooper to say that a Knitting Club is about to be started up in the Town. It will be on Thursday nights, starting on Thursday February 4th at the Adult Learning Centre in the Main St. Knitters both experienced and not, are welcome. It is hoped that people will bring along tried ‘n tested patterns ,where all can learn from each other, but above all, have a nice  time. Contact number 087 2110 143.

Millstreet and Cullen teams go forward to represent Cork in the Munster Scór na nÓg Finals on next Sunday afternoon in Mallow Youth Centre.
Best wishes are extended to the Millstreet Instrumental Music Group, Cullen Novelty Act and also a double Boherbue involvement at Question Time and Set Dancing who carry Duhallow hopes in the hotly competitive provincial decider.

Our local branch of Macra will host a gala fun night at Corkerys Bar on Saturday February 6th. includes Leg shaving etc, Disco, Refreshments. Sounds great.

Rathmore Panto,  Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has been deferred to February 24th due to the bad weather.
