Our Community School Transition Year Students are staging John B Keane’s Comedy MOLL, at the school this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Starting at 8pm. Truly a show not to be missed.

Cloghoula National School are appealing for Used Clothing this week, bags can be dropped  off at the school from 10 am to 2pm.

The Millstreet Calendar for 2014 is selling well and is available at lots of outlets in the town, an ideal Christmas at €5. Proceeds to the Astro Turf Fund.

Mass and Blessing at the Credit Union to-night at 8 and all are welcome.

The North Cork Enterprize Board are holding a North Cork Schools Enterprise Christmas Trade Fair at the Green Glens Arena this Thursday December 12th from 12noon to 2pm. Fifty student Mini Companies from 2nd level schools from all over the County will showcase their wide range of products and services. Also the selection of local trades will partake. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The annual Christmas Mass and Party organised by the Cullen and District Special Association lived up to its usual good name on Saturday last.Their newly refurbished Community Centre was  warm and welcoming on that cold afternoon. Mass was celebrated by Canon John FitzGerald assisted by Martin Goggin. And special prayers were said for past members and helpers as well as for all those present.

Beautiful refreshments were served before the music started and the floor was filled with happy dancers until it was time to call each member up for a Christmas gift that sent everybody home very happy.

IRD Duhallow has postponed to night’s seminar on Tuesday 10th December entitled “Home Truths” Helpful ways to overcome the pressures facing families today’s until a later date in the New Year.

And they apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Multi Cultural event organised by IRD Duhallow was very well attended at the GAA Hall on Monday. Many nationalities were there to display their various foods and customs. Well done to IRD Duhallow who put on these events every year.

The Annual 45Drive in aid of our local Hospital was very well attended also on Sunday night at the Green Glens. And well done to all who supported it not least among them the Duggan Family who give the premises free of charge every year.

Many congratulations to Patricia O Sullivan on the launch of her book for Children entitled, Irish Rascals, which was launched at the  weekend.

Our newly refurbished, town Square will be officially launched on  Friday night December13th, at 7pm when the pupils of all the local Schools plus our Community Singers will fill the night air with the songs and Carols of Christmas.

Also on Friday Night,Aubane will have their  Mass & Christmas Party  at 8.15. and on Sunday they will have a fun day for all the Family with Santa coming at 2pm

The monthly Gramophone  Circle meeting at the Canon O Donovan centre at 8.15.

The lights will be turned on at the Pub in Carriginma Friday night 13th,  The Millstreet Community singers will attend. It will also double as a Christmas Market, or more a Bring and Buy sale, or bring something and buy something. Please support it well.

Still with Carriginma They will have Santa on Sunday 15th Arriving by Rally Car at 2.

The Christmas Day climb of Mushera Mountain will go ahead as usual, as well as the New years day dip in the Blackwater. The committee are looking for past and new swimmers for this years swim in aid of Cork Mental health Duhallow area. Your support would be greatly appreciated, all for good causes.

Its that time of year again when the appeal for food for the homeless comes round essential foods  for example:

  • Sugar

  • Spaghetti
  • Soup
  • Biscuits
  • Tinned Meats, Cornbeef, Chicken, etc.
  • Toiletries  Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Shampoo, and Shower gel.

Out in Ballyvourney on Friday night 13th Maire Ní Cronin says they’re having a Gala night at the Abbey Hotel in aid of the Cork/Kerry Bus for Cancer, Music by Jerome Coakley & Lee Sound.

And there’s an evening of Songs and Stories at the Hall in Clondrohid in aid of the Philipenes.

Our GAA Club are hosting a Fundraising   walk around the Glebe on St.Stephen’s Day December 26th Starting out from the GAA Hall at 11am.

A few tickets are still available for the Womens Christmas Party at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Jan 3rd 2014. at €30. Contact Mairead 087 903 14 75.

Our weekly knitting Club continues at the Adult Learning Centre every Tuesday night from 7-9 and all are welcome.

Please  continue to shop at home. There is a wide range of attractive gift ideas in our shops and stores. And most of them will  do gift vouchers, it’s the trouble-free way to Christmas Shopping.

In preparation for Christmas A Penitental Service will be held in our Parish church on Tuesday December 18th, from 7-8 pm.

The Blessed Sacrement will be exposed and visiting priests will be available for confessions.

 

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at Corkerys Bar on Sunday Night. Numbers drawn were 6, 7, 23, 26 and the jackpot was not won.
