Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1210 from Millstreet.Fondest greetings dear listeners on this breezy, damp morning as we all try to recover from St Patrick’s Day.
Thank God the weather was great on the day,and on the previous days which gave people a chance to prepare for the greatest event of the year. The greatest I say because as St. Patrick is not just the patron saint of Ireland but his feast is celebrated in every country in the world, even in thetiny West Indian island of Montserrat, which is about the size of Munster. Their celebrations go on for a full week.
Meanwhile in Nebraska , the Western Town on Bradshaw had to hold the
Feast day in two halves , because of the crowds. One on March 17th and the
other six months later which they call “Half Way to St. Patrick’s Day” Many Irish Bands and Traditional musician make their way there every year to take part.
So who can blame us for celebrating here at home.
Our Pipe Band led the people into the church for 11.30 Mass and the Choir
sang their hymns as Gaelige. All so uplifting.
Canon John complimented them and praised the band on the number of young people who have come to join.
Our Comhaltas Ceoltori Group played at the Vigil Mass on Sunday night.
Our own Joanne O’ Riordan was Grand Marshal of our Parade and she addressed the crowd at out outset.
Every body in our Parade at 5pm was a winner, but alas there can only be a
few.

Rathmore and Carriginma held their parades on Saturday.

Murphys Terrace who will appear on Winning Streak next Saturday night.
Joan’s a very Lucky lady of late having had a sizable win locally in
recent times .
We’ll be rooting for you a Saturday night Joan, and wish you all the very

Our Weekly Lotto draw was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.
Numbers drawn were 1, 17, 23, 30 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Tom Hickey, Killarney. The seller was om Carroll and her got €50

Millstreet is fast becoming the Town That Never Sleeps. There is no stop to the amount of events on the cards for the rest of the year. It’s not easy
to keep track of them all.
Next Friday night March 21st our GAA Club will host the spectacular Show, Who wants to a Thousand-aire. At the GAA Hall. Starting at 8pm. Tickets at €15 each are on sale from members or at the door. It’s a show not to be missed, Proceeds go to the GAA Club which does such trogen work for our young people. Please give them your best support.
The Walking Committee are holding a Walking Fest on April 13 and 14th .
And the Community Council are planning a Sponsored Walk starting out from Kilmeedy Castle, in aid of the Astro Turf fund , at Easter.
April 20 to 23rd. will see the great Millstreet Welcome Tour and again on
April 17 to 20th at the Green Glens.

And there’s more. And this year also we welcome the return of the
Spectacular World Juggling Championships, on the third week of July
bringing patrons from all over the Globe.

League on Sunday at 2pm.
