James McSweeney for the seven splendid pictures just sent live from Dublin of the wonderfully talented Students of Millstreet Community School who are presently attending this highly prestigious Annual Exhibition at the RDS. Special thanks also to teacher Shane Guerin for making contact with us and in sharing the uplifting story of Millstreet in the Capital! Shane wishes to acknowledge the much appreciated financial support from Millstreet Community Council which has been provided not only this year but on many previous years also helping to fund this marvellously educational annual visit to the national competition. The school maintained its impressive record at this event with all 4 proposed projects making it through to the RDS:
- Bill Kelleher, Darragh McSweeney and Jasper Lennon will investigate “What are the consequences of project maths?”(Social and Behavioural Sciences),
- Niall Murphy, Patrick Dineen and Mark Dennehy will research “A statistical investigation into the impact of the black card” (Social and Behavioural Sciences),
- Megan Ring, Victoria Maslach and Daniel O’Callaghan will study “Wild Wednesday- what has Darwin taught us about trees?” (Biological and Ecological), and
- Ava Barry, Chloe Collins and Sarah Dennehy researched “An investigation into the attendance levels at women’s sports” (Social and Behavioural Sciences).
2077 projects were submitted nationally and with just 550 being accepted, the four accepted from Millstreet already represents a major achievement. All had a ball in Dublin, joined on the final day by the full T.Y. group and 2nd years.
