The Month of March is upon us and is living up to its name of being as wild as a March Hare. The light blanket of snow our our roads on Monday morning caused lots of minor mishaps,though the highway at Ceim was blocked for a while when a big lorry jack-knifed on the hill, however nothing serious was reported. Extreme caution is advised during this cold snap which is said to be short-lived.
Our annual March Fair was badly hampered by bad weather on Sunday. The crowds and the number of stalls were the smallest ever as well as the number of horses at the sales area in the Fair Field. The cold sleety showers made it clear to many that the out of doors was to be avoided.
The Community Council Awards Social will be held at the Wallis Arms on Friday March 6th.

Our Community singers attended the Vigil Mass on Saturday night. the young people who are about to get their Confirmation attended with their parents. and Canon John gave them the Pledge to abstain from intoxicating drinks and drugs, for a time of their own choosing.
A very successful Fair trade event was held at the Pastoral Centre on Saturday night after the Vigil Mass, and people are asked to buy Fair Trade products in the shops. Look out for their special wrapping. It will help people in poorer countries to survive on their own.
The annual Cake Sale will be held in Cullen on Mothers Day March 15th in aid of their popular Pipe Band. Homemade baking gratefully accepted. Contact any band member for details.
