This is Holy Week, a very important week in our Church Calendar. Last Sunday was Palm Sunday and Palms were blessed at all Masses. The custom is to have Blessed Palm displayed in every home where it will protect all who live there from harm, in the year ahead.
Please take note of the changes in the times for the Eucharistic Adoration this week. There will be no Adoration in Cullen on Thursday April 2nd or Thursday April 9th. In Millstreet Eucharistic Adoration will be at the usual time on Tuesday 10.30 am to 10.30 pm but on Wednesday April 1st. it’s from 10.30 am to 8.30pm.
In preparation for Easter, Penitential Service will be held in Millstreet Church on Wednesday April 1st from 7.30 to 8.30pm. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for that hour and visiting priests will available for confessions.
Ceremonies on Holy Thursday will be in Cullen at 6, 30 and in Millstreet at 8.pm
On Good Friday Ceremonies in Millstreet at 3pm and in Cullen at 6.30pm.
On Holy Saturday at Millstreet Church, there will be a Polish Mass and Blessing of Food at 2pm and Easter Vigil Mass begins at 9
Confessions after the ceremonies on Holy Thursday and Good Friday and from 12.30 to 1 in Millstreet on Holy Saturday.
The Novena of the Divine Mercy will begin on Good Friday in Millstreet, following the church ceremonies and will continue in the Church each day at 3pm until Sunday April 12th.
Please give your best attendance to our Holy Week/Easter ceremonies. The Whole World needs your Prayers.
The annual Easter Sunday Commutation will be held at the Monument in our Town Square on Easter Sunday following the 11.30 Mass. The Pipe Band will attend and the Oration will be delivered by our own popular Jerry Lehane.
And still with the Band a million congratulations to Band Drummer Teddy O’Herlihy who was successful at the Voice of the Glen contest at the Glen Theatre on Friday night. And I have a note here from him saying many thanks to all those who supported him in the contest so far. The final will be held in mid April.
We have some young Millstreet people looking for your support in the coming weeks. Every good wish to young Gerard O Hanlon, Son of Jim & Eileen Marta(Creedon) who has won his way to the finals of the Teen Stars competition and will compete in the final which will be held at the Westgrove Hotel Slane Co.Kildare on May 3rd.

Well done to the five lads who canoed the Blackwater from source to sea to raise money for the free ambulance service which is called “Bumbalance”. Many of their family and friends travelled to Youghal to meet them at journeys end on Saturday and gave them a real hero’s welcome.
They were David O Sullivan, John “Murt”O Sullivan, Dan Hickey, Denis Rahilly & Dan Dillane.
And well done to all those who held a very successful Daffodil Day in the town on Friday.

A very pleasant function was held at our lovely Country Park last evening Monday March 30th. to celebrate their 20th year in business. Their new style services were launched. The visitor centre has been completely overhauled making it much more inviting and open. It’s the ideal place now for functions big and small. Season ticket costs a mere €20 and the good news is that the entrance to the Liscahane Road is now open to the public.

The Aubane Social Club will hold their annual Good Friday Table Quiz starting at 8.30 on Friday night.
The same Club will host a gala social at the Riverside Park Hotel in Macroom on Saturday April 18th. to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Tickets are available from any member.
