Millstreet was ablaze with sparkling lights and children in fancy weird looking outfits on Saturday night last for Halloween. To add to the eerie atmostphere the weather was foggy, and to crown it all the street lighting in Pound Hill, and Murphy’s terrace were not working. There was a marked increase in the number of those taking part, so shops selling the regalia and goodies did a roaring trade. The good news is that there were no mishaps or accidents. By all accounts householders treated the little visitors very well and somehow managed to have something for everyone. Well done all round.
A Model Car show was held at Dromtariffe Hall on Sunday and was very well supported.For many it was a first and they were pleasantly surprised at the turn-out. Our LTV2 crew were there to record it and their findings will be included in one of their future programs. They can be viewed of UTube anytime, and a small connecting wire will display it on any TV screen.
Meanwhile Macroom Local TV continues to send out their programs on local TV, transmitting from Clara Mountain. It can be accessed on the religious station on any television, on Wednesday nights and Sunday evenings starting as early as 5.30.
Mairead Daly, who started the great Reach Out To Cancer Group held their fourth annual Mass in our church on Friday evening. Assisted by her many willing helpers Mairead provides help for people like herself who have encountered the disease. It is a voluntary group and through their own fundraising efforts they give help, by way of transport etc, to clinics and Hospitals to those who are in need of it as well as a kind and listening ear.
Following the Mass some lovely refreshments were served in the Parish Centre.
This is the Month of November, the month of the Holy Souls. Throughout the Month there will be many extra masses and prayers, for those who are no longer with us. A special indulgences can be gained by visiting any cemetery and praying for our dead. Confessions are held in Millstreet hurch every Saturday from 12.30 to 1.
Eurcharistic Adoration at the usual times. In Millstreet on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10.30 am for 12 hours and in Cullen on Thursday 10am to 7pm.
Our Cemetries will be blessed on next Sunday November 8th following the Sunday Masses. Candles for placing on Graves will be Blessed at all Masses on the day.

The knitting club meet every Tuesday night at the Adult Learning Centre from 7 to 9. Our Church Choir Have their rehearsal every Wednesday night at the Parish Centre at 8pm and new members welcome. Marie Twomey’s (care-free) Singing Group meet every Thursday night at the same venue at 7.30. For the “boys” theres the Men’s shed at their lovely new premises on the Macroom Rd. Our lovely Town Park is a hive of activity, for young and not so young. The pleasant walkway around the Park is dotted with a variety of Exercise machines for public use. Indoors at the Youth Centre the newly refurbished adult is in the capable hands of Denise Neenan. Our Day Care Centre serves beautiful dinners every day at 12.30 to non-residents, to eat in or take-away. Just book it that morning (029 70926) .This service is a real blessing from God if one is recovery from any ailment and not able to cook at home.
