Now whats new. I’ve been asked to mention that lots of our people in the Millstreet area are bothered by the problem of fouling by dogs . It happens on footpaths, gardens and so on. It is very upsetting for those affected, and the culprits are asked to please be mindful of this when their family pet is out of doors.
And there’s more, that of the overhanging shrubs and trees along our public walkways, not the Town Park. This problem is two fold. That of the heavy raindrops when walking there and also the eerie feeling that those using these areas get when walking in these darkened places.
Well as promised I’ve given these items an airing and it’s up to those who can do something about them to please, take action.
Our lovely Joan Casey was further honoured at the weekend when she was presented with the All Ireland Volunteer Camogie Award. In appreciation of her fifteen years as leader of our highly successful camogie club.
The presentation was made at Croke Park and many of our Camogie Club committee members went along to support her. Well done to them all, and long live our Camogie Club.
Due to circumstances beyond their control the people of Aubane are concerned about the future of their school bus service. And a public meeting will be held at the social centre on this Thursday night to discuss the problem. All welcome.
Our four Transition year students have succeeded in raising the funds to enable them to travel as helpers, to Lourdes at Easter at the end of March.
But fundraising goes on and now the lovely Linda O Mahony Flintfield tells us that she plans to go the Sri Lanka to help with the mental health situation there. To raise funds for the project a “Legless Stretcher Race” will be held on April 17th. Teams of five, €10 entry fee and all further details can be had at the Bush Bar. Please give Linda your support.

A number of the students from our community school were joined by students from many other schools around the County, took part in seminar about climate change which was held at the Green Glens arena some weeks ago. Representatives of Trocaire, WorldGlobalSchools, Eco Unesco, and the Cork Enviomental Forum attended. Following this important event, representatives will take the findings back to their individual schools , for further developments.

In the Run-up to Easter, Millstreet Monuments Committee are working hard to make it a occasion worthy of the Centenery of the Easter Rising. A book on the Story of Millstreet in 1916 is being compiled, entitled Ready, Willing & Able and it will be launched at a special function to be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Wednesday March 9th .Starting at 9pm. and all are welcome.
Special Guest on the night will be the well-known Jerry White, author and historian.
Our Community Council are holding extra meetings at the moment in preperation for our St.Patricks Day Parade. Theres one tonight, Tuesday, at the Wallis arms Hotel.
