Eily’s Report – 7th June

eily1Dia is Mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome.

I hope that nothing prevented you from enjoying the wonderful Bank Holiday weekend. The whole world seemed to have been on the move, with everybody out in the great out of doors, soaking up the sunshine and the atmostphere. The number of people from other countries visiting, was very obvious and how great it was for once that we had some lovely weather for them to enjoy.

As always we welcome any visitors who are here at the moment and hope they have a nice time.

The countryside looks amazing with Mother Nature taking on her coat of many colours.

Look up the IRD Duhallow booklet which tells you of so many ways  that you can make use of the  wild flowers and berries as Summer  weeks and months go by. Exotic things like wild garlic syrup, purslane salad, elderflower champagne, to name but a few. Ring 02960633 for details of where to get  this lovely booklet.

The June issue of the new monthly magazine “Duhallow Today” is in the shops, and it is free.

A very pleasant function was held at the Clara Inn on Bank Holiday Monday night at which the Lotto committee presented Rita O Reilly with the Jackpot win of €10,200 Euros. Sean Radley was there to record the happy occasion. And on behalf of the Lotto Committee Noel Buckley congratulated Rita on her lovely win.

A special ceremony was held in our Church last week for all those involved in the weekly Eucharistic Adoration in Cullen and Millstreet as well as the general public. The Community Singers attended. Following the Mass and one hour expositition of the Blessed Sacrament, refreshments were served at the Parish Centre.

In his sermon Canon John, commended all those who continue to keep the Eucharistic Adoration going in the parish. And stressed the need for prayer in the World of to-day.

As time goes by it is inevitable that numbers can drop due to death or illness, and more people are invited to keep the numbers up.

For details of how to become a regular Adorer please contact the Parish Office 02970043.

This week we wish all our students who will be engaged in the  Inter and Leaving Cert Exams ,every success. The annual Mass is said for their intentions at Tubrid well on Tuesday June 7th.

Coming out on Top can be great but its not everything.

Your best is all you can do.

Please continue to enjoy the lovely weather, and be careful as the silage season is in full swing as well as the tourist season.
