A Pádraig Ó hIceadha Plaque will be unveiled at Cullen Community Centre this Saturday evening at 8 in Cullen. Renowned Poet, Bernard O’Donoghue of Cullen & Oxford will perform the unveiling to honour this superb gentleman – Pádraig – whose great love of Cuilinn Uí Chaoimh and the promotion of true Irish Culture and Heritage was universally recognised. Everyone is very welcome to this historic unveiling this Saturday, 23rd July 2016 at 8pm in Cullen. We thank Brenda O’Sullivan for alerting us to this very important occasion. (S.R.)
Bio: Ó hICEADHA, Pádraig (1920–1999)
Comhartha ar a spéis san fheirmeoireacht is ea gur shiúil sé go Baile Átha Cliath in Eanáir 1967 chun tacú le feachtas mór chearta na bhfeirmeoirí. Bhí sé bainteach le Conradh na Gaeilge go hóg ina shaol agus dhéanadh mórchuid oibre i gCuilinn; ainmneacha Gaeilge ar shiopaí, fógraí agus comharthaí Gaeilge, cúrsaí Gaeilge, Feis Laitiarain, an iris Seanchas Dúthalla, sraitheanna léachtaí.
Glad to read in the Millstreet news that Padraig Ó’Hicheadha is finally having a plaque erected in his memory, long overdue. As a student at Cullen Technical School in. The mid nineteen fifties we have a lot to thank Pádraig for. He worked hard to get the school up and running. It gave many of us a good start in life. He showed a great interest in the school while I was a pupil. Sadly many of the pupils of that era have passed away. May they rest in peace. In the meantime wishing all a good in Cullen on Saturday best wishes, Denis Ó’Sullivan barnes in southwest London. It would be nice if you could my letter out. Somebody may remember me. Regards to all in Cullen
