This is National Dairy Show Week in Millstreet, The Great one day event will be held at the mighty Green Glens Arena on Saturday October 22, starting as early as 9am. It’s a day out for all the Family. Bouncing castles and facepainting and games for the children. Trade stands with every kind of farm and home equipment on show, cookery section and most important of all the cream of the worlds livestock. All in doors in the comfort of the Green Glens arena. The resturaunt will be up and running offering the best of Irish beef on the menu. Free car parking on the adjacent grounds outside. We wish the organisers every success with this giant venture on their annual calendar.
And talking of calendars. Our Community Council are in the process of developing their calendar for 2018. The proceeds always goes to good local causes.
The Pony Owners Show will be held at the Green Glens on October 28,29.30. It’s a family show which is run every year for charity, very often for local causes.
At the Community Council Meeting which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Tuesday night it was decided that the history of many our local features will be explored and documented. No item is too big or too small to be included.
The outcome should be very interesting to us all, but especially to anyone visiting the town and it’s environs. Anybody interested in helping with the venture or know of a feature that should be included please contact Chairman Noel Buckley or any Council Member.
Its hard to keep up with the changing face of Millstreet at the moment. Right now the work is in progress to fit an zebra crossing near the church. Other changes have already been made outside Centra in the west End and near the church, to mention but a few. To add to the list, many properties in the town have come up for sale both commercial and private. And many sales have already been sealed. Some in town some out the country.
With the return of so many of our people from abroad there is a real buzz around the place.

We all mourned the passing of Ken Brennan this week. Ken was the first Principal of our Community School which was a groundbreaking establishment back in the 70s. The large crowd who attended his removal and requim was testament of the high regard at which he was held.We offer our sincere condolences to his loving wife Helena and family.
Members of the Church of God gave a recital at their House in the Square on Saturday night. They come on a fairly regular basis and all are welcome to join them or just to come and listen.
