“He was known as an enforcer for organised crime gangs in London’s East End. His boss was a major drugs lord, who had taken over the business vacated by the infamous Kray twins.
John Pridmore never left home without his machete, knuckle dusters and can of mace. He had money to burn, fast cars, girls, expensive apartments, any drugs he required, and respect of a kind.
Fast forward to November of this year, and John Pridmore and his fellow lay missioners have just delivered the parish mission in Bishopstown.
This week on ‘Where the road takes me’, John Greene pays a visit to Dennehy’s Cross church, to hear about a new style of parish mission, completely unlike the hellfire and brimstone ones of old.
John Pridmore talks about his amazing transformation, and how almost killing somebody, and believing that he did, made him turn his back on a life of crime and brutality.

Parish priest Fr. Bertie o’Mahony from Kilbrittain fills us in on the history of the church, built with the aid of a waste paper fund.
