Millstreet is the proud owner of a brand new facility.A 40×60 Astro Turf court. A wonderful addition to the many other features of our splendid Town Park. It is ready for use as of now. Mairead Daly has been chosen by the Community Council as manager and she can be contacted re bookings and other details right away. at 087 33 61 666.
And please take note,that there is an Astro Turf meeting at the Wallis Arms Hotel to-night at 9.
The work of enhancement continues in our town Square. And when completed it will be lovely,
Adding a new dimention and newness to the area. However as everything has its price, the
Business people in the area are suffering a lot of loss of business as a result, please be
reminded that they are open for business as usual and give them your full support at this
trying time for the.
The 40th birthday of our Community School was celebrated in style at the Green Glens on Friday night last. The ceremony opened with Mass celebrated by past pupil Fr. James Mc. Sweeney. It was followed by a beautiful four course meal provided by the renowned Denis Doody of Kingdom Caterers. All night big screens on the walls displayed a continuous flow of pictures covering the 40 years of the wonderful life of the school.
Guest speakers included the first principle Ken. Brennan, Tom Meaney , Sr. Eileen to name but a few.
Each speaker recalled in their own way the struggles and efforts that had to be overcome ,to make a Community School a reality in the small town of Millstreet 40 years ago.
The popular Celt Band played the night away as people met and renewed old aquaintances and recalled old times, ‘Twas that kind of a night and many thanks to all those who organised it.
Well done to our two Centra Stores who teamed up and held a fundraising Walk around the Glebe on Sunday. It was very well supported, blessed with fine weather and proceeds went to the Irish Cancer Society.
Coming up this week we have the annual National Dairy Show at the Green Glens Arena. It will draw the cream of livestock from all parts of the country. Following the great summe, people of the land will be in form to take time out. It’s the 31st annual Dairy Show and its there for all to enjoy.
The Self-Build Show returns on November 8-10.
Jerry Pat O Leary is off on another mission of love. The call of the poor in Haiti is too strong to ignore,so he’s planning to return to help complete work on an orphanage out there.
But he will need money and in order to raise some funds he will hold a Spinathon, don’t ask me, a Spinathon in the town Square on Saturday next October 19th from 12 noon, for more information call to the butcher shop or give him a ring at

The Town will be a sparklin’ next Friday night October 18 when the Aubane Social committee will host their annual Fancy Dress Ball in conjunction with the Wallis Arms Hotel.
The proceeds will go to our local Reach out Cancer Group. Please give it your best support.

Our loop walks continue to attract many walkers to our mountains and scenic places. Please keep them litter free. Don’t throw plastic bottles and food containers along the way. Take them home for all our sakes.
