Upcoming Documentary Feature by William McSweeney & Friends

We shall soon be indicating a video link to a truly excellent video produced by William McSweeney, his Primary School Class from Cobh and RTÉ’s Jim Wilson.   William who lives and teaches in beautiful Cobh,  is of course a native of Killarney Road, Millstreet – is a gifted Musician, an inspiring Teacher and a real Expert in the area of Nature Study.   The Documentary is a gem and a delight… and deserves the highest of Oscars!

Updated: the video has been added below. It is 5th class pupils of Scoil Iosaef Naofa, Cobh, Co. Cork, Ireland (William’s class) as part of the International Schools Godwit Project, which is a co-operative international study between a school in Iceland, a school in Devon, England, and William’s class, in a joint effort to to link what the birds do on the wintering and breeding grounds in order to understand the factors that regulate the population size of a migratory bird species. James Gillespie Walks from Malin to Mizen for Childline

This is the truly inspiring James Gillespie from Strabane in Northern Ireland who on this 21st June, the longest day of the year, arrived in Millstreet with some three days of his wonderful marathon All-Ireland Walk left when he will reach Mizen.

Vintage Group Presents Cheque to Millstreet Community Hospital

Matron Lena Kelleher accepts the cheque of €4,000.00 on behalf of the St. Joseph's Community Hospital, Millstreet from Millstreet Vintage Group at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday, 17th June. The impressive cheque is the result of the other half of the fruitful funds from the very successful Vintage Family Day at Green Glens on Easter Sunday 2011.

Sgt. Gerry Carmody Retires Following Almost Forty Years of Dedicated Service

Gerry Carmody who has just retired following almost forty years of dedicated service as a member of the Gardaí, seventeen of which were spent attached to the Millstreet Garda Force. Also included is Gerry wife, Helen, his son Patrick and his girlfriend, Jackie Yelverton. We wish Sgt. Gerry many years of very happy, healthy and fulfilling retirement.

Death Notice: Denis (Denny) Radley, Dungarvan and Millstreet

The death has occurred on Friday, June 10, 2011 of Denis (Denny) Radley, Church Street,  Dungarvan, Co. Waterford and formerly of The Square, Millstreet, Co. Cork.  Husband of the late Margaret and son of the late Tom and Abina Radley, Millstreet. Deeply regretted by his daughters, Angela & Denise, brothers John and Tommy, sister Marie, son-in-law, grandchildren,  sisters-in-law,  brother-in-law,  nephews,  his cousins and extended families, his many great friends and neighbours.   Reposing at Drohan’s Funeral Home, Emmet Street, Dungarvan.   Rosary this Saturday evening at 8.00 p.m..  Removal on Sunday at 6.30pm to St. Mary’s Parish Church, Dungarvan. Requiem Mass on Monday at 11.00 a.m..  Funeral afterwards to Adjoining Cemetery, Dungarvan.

Spectacular 14th Innishannon Steam & Vintage Rally 2011

New Nano Nagle Wing Blessed Today at Presentation N.S., Millstreet

The new Nano Nagle Wing was today blessed by Bishop Bill Murphy at a very special ceremony in Presentation N.S., Millstreet. Following the concelebration of Mass in St. Patrick's Church the blessing took place followed by the planting of a symbolic tree. Lots more pictures of the truly historic event to follow in time.

Presentation N.S. Prepares for Friday’s Blessing of Nano Nagle Wing

There is a wonderful wealth of very colourful Artwork on display which we shall later share - all the magnificent work of the many schoolchildren inspired by their dedicated teachers.

Presentation of “Shave or Dye” Cheques at The Pub, Carriganima

Rose O'Dea (pictured 2nd from right) accepted two very impressive cheques for the Irish Cancer Society at The Pub in Carriganima on Monday, 30th May 2011 - the wonderfully uplifting fruits of the special "Shave or Dye" night in The Pub in April. John P. Kelleher (4th from left) & Supporters presented €3,343.00 while Seán Murphy (kneeling in front) and his Group handed over a cheque for €2,442.

The All Ireland Rosary Rally takes place this coming Saturday, 4th June at Knock Shrine, Co. Cork City Walkers Visit Millstreet and Thoroughly Enjoy Clara Walk

Alerted by the recent "Irish Times" feature on the Clara Walk these wonderfully energetic members of a Cork City Walking Group (many of whom are members of a Cork Tennis Club) enjoyed not only a superb walk this evening (Sunday, 29th May 2011) but also a splendid picnic upon Clara Mountain. Meeting with the very fit Group at Mount Leader, LTV2's Brendan Murphy (on video camera) and I arranged to interview the sincerely friendly and very cheerful people for the Autumn Schedule of LTV2. They accorded much praise regarding the excellent Clara walkway. It's wonderfully uplifting noting the visit of such interesting people to our area who promote the advantages of such healthy outdoor pursuits. (Picture by Seán Radley for website and LTV2)
