IRD Duhallow Certified Training Courses

Interested in accessing Certified Training Courses? IRD Duhallow has been successful in its application for funding under the Equality for Women Measure 2010 – 2013. We intend to hold two information seminars detailing the proposed Workshops and Certified Training Courses for women that we anticipate to run. These seminars will take place on Monday 22nd November at 11.30a.m. and Tuesday 23rd November at 7.30p.m. in the James O’ Keeffe Institute, Newmarket. IRD Duhallow will be hosting a Public Information Evening entitled “Know Your Rights” for people who are looking for information on the following topics: Jobseeker Payments and Benefits, Information on Qualified Adult Means Test, Family Income Supplement, Back to Work Enterprise Allowance, Educational and Training Options for Unemployed People, Managing Your Money, Mortgage Interest Supplement and Tax Reliefs Available. LTV1 Programme Tonight

Just a reminder that Programme 2 of the new LTV1 (Muskerry Region) season will be transmitted tonight (Wednesday, 3rd Nov. 2010) beginning at 9.30 p.m. co-ordinated by LTV’s Dan Joe Kelleher of Carriganima.    Tomorrow night at 10.00 p.m.  LTV2 (Duhallow/Sliabh Luachra region) will transmit the second archival programme of the new season.  (Seán)

Thanks a million for logging into our Fancy Dress Selections in your hundreds.   Last year we had huge numbers viewing this annual topic. Fancy Dress Event at Wallis Arms – An Outstanding Success

This year's Fancy Dress Event at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday, 29th Oct. 2010 was an outstanding success. Here we feature the winners but do look out for lots of very colourful pictures from the event over coming days on our website. Programme 24 on LTV2 from 2005 Featured This Week

An image from tonight's transmission of Programme 24 (2005) on LTV2 Millstreet with Eily B., Seán R. and Seán M.. Special thanks to LTV2's Bernard Crowley and Mary Ankettell for arranging this archival programme for transmission. Many thanks to LTV's Dan Joe Kelleher, Carriganima for broadcasting all of the many programmes throughout the season. The repeat of this programme and the first new LTV1 programme will be transmitted on this Sunday beginning at 6.30 p.m.. At 5.00 p.m. LTV1 will feature the Sunday Special which this week includes coverage of the Corpus Christi Processions of 2010 in the Muskerry area. (Seán)

LTV2 Millstreet Back On Air

LTV2 Millstreet, our community-based, non-commercial local television channel is scheduled to be back on air tonight with a broadcast at 10.00 p.m..   The transmission tonight features a repeat of a programme from our archives and a further repeat of another archival programme will be broadcast at 10.00 p.m. on Thurday, 4th November.   Our first new programme of the season will be transmitted on Thursday, 11th November at 10.00 p.m..   It is hoped that, in time, we may be in a position to feature our weekly transmissions on the internet giving an opportunity to all our loyal website followers to experience LTV2 Millstreet on a regular basis.    (Seán Radley for www.millstreet.ie and LTV2 Millstreet)

Parade of Retiring Riders at Green Glens Equestrian Event

Fr. Bernard Dennehy of New Zealand Visits Millstreet

Denis Murphy of Cahirdowney, Millstreet accords a royal welcome to Fr. Bernard Dennehy from New Zealand whose grandfather, Michael, came from Cahirdowney and emigrated to New Zealand c. 1880. Fr. Bernard visited Millstreet for the very first time today and met many local people who made him feel so very much at home. He attended Fr. J. Fitzgerald's 10.00 a.m. Mass on Tuesday, 19th Oct. 2010 and we arranged to give him a tour of the area. We ended the day at Tullig House where he was so thrilled to meet Mary Cashman with sons Donal and Michael. Fr. Bernard had known the late Fr. Michael Cashman of Tullig House who devoted his priestly life to the people of New Zealand. (Seán)

National Dairy Show Success

Reporting for LTV2 from the very successful National Dairy Show at Green Glens on Saturday, 16th October 2010 with the award-winning Barrett Family from Cork City whose cows won both the Best Holstein cow and best Jersey cow and earned high praise from American Judge Charlie Will at this year's Show. Peter O’Regan Delights Millstreet Gramophone Circle With His Selection

Peter O'Regan of Lissarda, Macroom featured true musical gems in his superb presentation at the Millstreet Gramophone Circle's meeting held in the Canon O'Donovan Centre, Clara Road on Friday, 15th Oct. 2010. Peter's first cousin was the late Denis O'Regan and his granduncle was the late Andrew O'Regan both of whom have been associated with the renowned O'Regan's Mills of Millstreet. Pictured from left: Eileen Hackett, Gretta O'Regan, Peter O'Regan and Mary McSweeney (all from the general Macroom/Muskerry area). Sam’s Tour Continues – Visiting Millstreet on Tuesday

Margaret’s Wonderful 100th Birthday

Margaret Radley (nee Linehan) celebrated with her many relatives and friends her 100th Birthday on Tuesday, 21st September 2010 at Kingston-upon-Thames near London. Margaret, a native of Ballinamona near Mitchelstown was married to the late Denis Radley of Millstreet and has lived in Chessington, Surrey for many years. Margaret still has her same wonderful Irish accent and is ever-cheerful with that truly superb laugh which uplifts all in her company. She is Aunt to local Millstreet people - Marie Carroll (nee Radley), Killarney; John, Tommy and Denis Radley, Dungarvan as well as Denis & Tadhg Murphy, Ballydaly. Niece, Breeda Condon of Mitchelstown presented President McAleese's cheque of almost two and a half thousand Euro to Margaret and read the President's wonderful letter sent especially to Margaret from Áras an Uachtaráin. Margaret's daughter, Johanna, presented the Queen's card to her Mum. Highlights of the historic occasion will be broadcast on LTV2 Millstreet. (Seán Radley for www.millstreet.ie)
