Martin Goggin – Acknowledgement & First Anniversary

MARTIN GOGGIN

Lackabawn, Millstreet & COPE Foundation, Mallow

Died 27th September 2023
Acknowledgement & First Anniversary

As we lovingly remember Martin on his first anniversary, we, his family would like to thank extended family, neighbours and friends who have supported us over the last 12 months as we come to terms with the passing of our beloved Martin. We would like to thank everyone who
telephoned and called to the house. We acknowledge the many lovely tributes and messages of condolence placed on RIP.ie. We remember with gratitude those who stood in respectful silence on route as Martin’s cortege travelled from home to the church, those who attended
the funeral services and sent Mass cards and letters of sympathy. We are also very grateful to those who would have liked to attend but could not and remembered us in their thoughts and prayers.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Cork University Hospital who looked after Martin with such care during his time there. A very special thank you to all the staff at COPE Mallow and to Dr Bertie Daly and the staff of Áth Trasna Medical Centre, Newmarket for the
incredible commitment, kindness, compassion and care shown to Martin during his life and especially in his final weeks. Their combined efforts, along with the palliative care team from Marymount Hospice, allowed us to bring him home to Mallow to be with his family and friends before his passing which meant so much to us. Thank you to Frank, Mairéad and the staff of Reen’s Pharmacy, who were always so accommodating.

We would like to thank Canon John Fitzgerald for a very heartfelt and sincere funeral Mass.  Thanks to Fr Anthony Sheehan, Mallow, for administering the last rites to Martin and concelebrating the funeral Mass with Canon John. Thanks to Sharon Lane for her help and
guidance in planning the Mass and for the lovely Mass booklets, and to Julie Brady for her kindness and assistance.

Thanks to all involved in providing the beautiful music at the church: Ciara Guerin, Bláithín and Denise Kennedy, Eddie Kiely, and Martin’s niece and nephew Miriam and Tadgh. Thanks to
Marie Twomey for playing the bagpipes to lead Martin to his final resting place, and to Matt Lawlee for singing one of Martin’s favourite songs at his graveside.

We would like to thank Davy Tarrant, Timmy Twomey and Cora O’Riordan of Tarrant’s Funeral Directors, Millstreet for their professionalism and kindness.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

Martin’s Anniversary Mass will take place on Friday 27th September at 7.30pm in St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet.

When a light is as bright as the light you shone
There’s no such thing as truly gone.
When a smile is as precious as the one you wore,
You will live in our hearts forever more.

May Martin Rest in Eternal Peace.

Millstreet Town Park Committee

Millstreet Town Park Committee are saddened and frustrated to report that the newly installed picnic benches in Millstreet Town Park were vandalised last night. This is extremely upsetting, as these benches were placed for everyone’s enjoyment and to enhance our shared space.

We kindly request that whoever is responsible for this act come forward and take immediate steps to remove the damage. Now is the chance to correct this poor choice, and we encourage you to make amends.
