Jimmy Reidy’s 100th Music Show is broadcast on Cork Music Station on this Friday, 14th June 2024 at 10pm and repeated on Saturday, 15th June at 1pm.  Jimmy’s Archival Shows are transmitted on Cork Music Station on Tuesdays at 8pm and repeated on Sundays at 10pm.  Happy Listening!  (S.R.)

This Tuesday morning…11th June 2024… at Presentation N.S., Millstreet Aideen from Food Dudes National Project (on right) presented a most impressive hand-crafted Plaque to Coordinator Helen O’Sullivan in the presence of the Staff and Pupils of Presentation N.S. marking four splendid years of participation in this Health Related praiseworthy Project. General Public are very Welcome to the Millstreet Vintage Club Cars & Coffee plus Tractors and Tea in aid of Critical Blackwater CFR Group happening this Sunday June 9th

The Millstreet Vintage Club  Cars & Coffee plus Tractors and Tea Event at the Castle is almost upon us and it’s all happening on this Sunday June 9th in the Beautiful Grounds of Drishane Castle Millstreet from 10.30am to 2pm,the Event is in aid of Critical Blackwater CFR Group.

The General Public are most welcome to the Event down in the beautiful grounds of Drishane on what has the makings of a great day out. 

The Cork Car Scene Group along with the Red Bull Minis will be in attendance at the Event which will add to the spectacle,the Event is open to the General Public and as usual all Vintage/Classic Cars,Tractors,Bikes,Vans etc are very Welcome to attend, for more Details Call Donie Lucey on 086 8545873.

Annual Fundraising for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind on Friday last at outside Colemans at Minor Row, Millstreet.

Meeting at Café Aroma – Three generations of the Moynihan Family – Margaret, Niall and Conor. Also included is Brendan Murphy (2nd from left).
Michelle O’Keeffe presents the Cork 800 Mascot (actually made at Clara Toy Factory in Pound Hill, Millstreet!) to Millstreet Museum. This wonderful item was found while spring cleaning at Dromtariffe GAA Club.

Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind Fundraising This Friday

On this Friday, 24th May 2024, Eileen Tarrant and her dedicated Team will be fundraising from 9am to 4pm outside Coleman’s Centra Supermarket, Minor Row, Millstreet in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.  Eileen will be having many relevant items for sale and will be joined by two canine friends.  She especially welcomes anyone who would like to join her at any time during the 9 to 4 fundraising period for this wonderfully praiseworthy occasion. 

This was the occasion in August 2023 when the official cheque was presented following the uplifting fundraising efforts of the dedicated local group:

“With the Annual Open Day taking place today, Saturday, 26th August 2023 at the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind national headquarters on Model Farm Road, Cork T12 WT4A to which all are very welcome, a very special gathering of people from the Millstreet Parish area travelled there yesterday to present the very impressive cheque of €2,018.00 to the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind – the fruits of the fundraising some months ago which involved the production and selling of the excellent Music CD “A Millstreet Collection Volume Two” – comprising of thirty various Artists most of whom had direct Millstreet links.  This CD fundraising project was the inspiring work of Paddy Murphy, Tullig.   The second important fundraising event, wonderfully coordinated by Eileen Tarrant and her superbly dedicated Team involved a full day’s fundraising Collection outside Coleman’s Centra, Minor Row, Millstreet where a royal welcome was accorded by Mary and John Coleman during which the generous response from the public was quite remarkable.   Here we share an image of the presentation with further images to follow later.  Tap on the picture to enlarge.  (S.R.)

 

Chris Bennett, Regional Development Officer, Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, (on extreme right) accepted the uplifting cheque from the wonderfully dedicated Team from Millstreet Parish. The gentleman with the green jacket at back is Dermot O’Donovan who provided us with a magnificent Tour of the overall Centre. Dermot from the Coachford area is one of a number of excellent Volunteer Helpers at the amazing Centre.

MGC Final Presentation of the Season Tonight at 8.15

The General Public are very Welcome to come along to see the Vintage Tractors at the Millstreet Vintage Club Vintage Tractor Run happening in Millstreet Tomorrow Sunday May12th

The General Public are very Welcome to view the Vintage  Tractors before the Run today Sunday which is being ran by Millstreet Vintage Club and organised by Dan Barry .

The Tractors can be viewed at the Canon O’Donovan Centre from 11am right up to when they hit the road at 1pm,the beneficiary from this Event is Millstreet Community Hospital, and the Run will be exclusively open to VINTAGE TRACTORS only and the Criteria required for to take part will be that your Tractor will have to be 1994 or Older to participate,this is the first time the Club will be running a Tractor Run for Vintage Tractors only and is an interesting concept and hopefully one that catches on for future Events.

Entry Fee is €20.

Wonderful Musical Event in Ballyvourney This Sat. at 8pm

We thank Margaret and Michael Dennehy, Geararoe, Millstreet for the very interesting link about a Concert in Ballyvourney this Saturday night. The group are made up of the Cotter family from Ennis.  Geraldine Cotter was a music teacher in Millstreet Community School in the early to mid-1980s. Most likely, many of her Past-Pupils might well wish to see Geraldine and her Family perform at this very special event  at the Ionad Cultúrtha in Baile Mhúirne on Sat. 11th May at 8pm.  (S.R.)
