“Voice of the Glen 2014” Begins Saturday at 8pm

The  Voice of the Glen opens in the Glen Theatre on this Saturday night at 8pm. Involving 66 singers nominated by clubs, groups and business outlets from Cork County and beyond, the hosting promises much entertainment during the coming weeks. Programme 229 which will be broadcast tommorrow night Thursday January 30 at 10.00pm with a repeat of this show being transmitted next Sunday Evening February 2 at 8.00pm is now online. You can now watch our Ninth Programme of the Season right here at millstreet.ie or on the LTV2 Facebook Page 
To receive reception one needs to retune analogue settings (available in menu “settings”). When scanning is complete one will now have the new channel – either UHF Channel 30 or UHF Channel 35 (or both in certain areas of Millstreet). All this depends on how strong the signal is in any given area. The UHF Channel 30 signal comes from the Carriganima direction whereas the UHF Channel 35 signal comes from the western side of Millstreet Town. This is now saved and is presently transmitting the EWTN (Religious) Channel.

Bishop Buckley Greets Millstreet Community Singers at Mercy Hospital, Cork Where They Presented a Superb Christmas Programme of Songs & Hymns

Millstreet Community Singers who for the second occasion have performed a splendid selection of songs at the Mercy Hospital, Cork were thrilled to be greeted by Bishop Buckley who was in great admiration of their wonderful Christmas programme of songs and hymns.   Great credit is due to coordinator Marie Twomey for having directed the very talented Group for the past three years and for arranging engagements such as this very special performance at the Mercy Hospital. A Very Busy Photographic Weekend!

A very special reception for Dan Joe and Margaret O'Keeffe marking their retirement from Rathcoole Post Office and Shop - organised by their Family.  A full feature will follow later as indeed it will for the many significant occasions we covered this weekend.   These wonderful events included the 50th Birthday of Kathleen Hartigan (nee Murphy), Christmas Fairs in Millstreet and Newmarket, the official opening of a splendid new Children's Playground in Rathmore. If you always wanted to sing but never had the courage to do so then this is your chance. You don’t have to be able to read music, you won’t be asked to sing on your own or take an audition. Superb Musical Presentation at “Trad for Trócaire”

A superb presentation of music and song by the wonderfully talented Students of Millstreet Community School on Thursday, 3rd Oct. 2013 took place at the School in aid of "Trad for Trócaire".   The splendid work of Trócaire was outlined at the end of the musical sequence.   Sincere congratulations to all who contributed to such an uplifting occasion. Trad for Trócaire event at Millstreet Community School

22Trad for Trócaire 2012A Trad for Trócaire event will take place in Millstreet Community School library on Thursday 3rd October at 8pm. It will be an evening of traditional song, music and dance, performed by members of the community school. It will also be a chance to support Trócaire’s work with the poorest of the poor in developing countries. Admission is free, although there will be a collection for Trocaire during the event.
