Students from Millstreet Community School arrived in Halloween style at The Square, Millstreet on Friday, 27th Oct. 2023 just after 12 noon. With the cooperation of the Gardaí, the sound of very lively dance music appropriate to the season, the guidance of the MCS Principal and Staff Members and the presence of an enthusiastic audience, we were treated to an amazing four-minute “Dance Mob” performance – the first ever perhaps in Millstreet! While it was dry during the dance routine the rain arrived at the conclusion of this superb happening….and the traffic began to smoothly flow again! Teachers Chris Horan, Kevin O’Neill and I recorded the historical occasion from the upstairs windows of Millstreet Credit Union and we thank Ger and Mary for the very kind permission granted to capture the very colourful scene from such a wonderfully panoramic setting. Here we share some 31 images from the mighty occasion. Tap on the pictures to enlarge. (S.R.) [read more …] “Halloween Dance Mob at The Square on Friday, 27th Oct.”
Millstreet Question Time enjoyed a productive outing at the Munster Senior Scór Finals on outright victory following a staging in Newport, Co. Tipperary. In the GAA promoted event, team members included Con Healy, Jerry Doody, Pat Sheehan and John Tarrant.
From a diverse range of posers, Millstreet emerged best to better Churchill (Kerry) and Newport (Tipperary). All three teams will progress to the All Ireland Final on Saturday, November 18 on a hosting in the INEC, Killarney.
Well done also to Anna Moynihan (Cullen) and the Cullen Ballad Group on their participation, likewise the Boherbue Figure and Set Dancers, all delivered excellent performances though denied places in the All Ireland Finals.
With some eight people providing a superb variety of interesting contributions giving an insight into the “Millstreet Experience” this morning on Radio Kerry’s “Saturday Supplement” with Frank and Siubhán Lewis and splendid music shared by four very talented Musicians plus the great singing of Jerry Doody – the response to the radio programme has been truly uplifting with many making contact with the many Contributors. Sincere thanks to the many Listeners who tuned in and to those who made contact. (S.R.)
